There are many who think that by denying the truth, it will cease to exist, and they further think that those things which sound foolish to their all knowing intellect can’t possibly be true. Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 1:27: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;  Those who consider themselves worldly, wise, and all knowing are confounded by the gospel message. And when the truth won’t go away, they want to destroy the message as does Elton John. (See God Demands Holiness)

When one can convince his or her self there is no God, then presumably anything can be done without feeling the pangs of guilt. Yet, if that were true, then those who so believe wouldn’t be trying to destroy God and his ways at every opening of their sin filled mouths. Sin is the word that is most bothersome to them and it is the rotten root sprouting their denial of God.

The Apostle Paul was a devout believer in God although he denied the living Christ until his dramatic conversion on the road to Damascus. When in front of Festus, he said as recorded by Luke in Acts 26:22-23: 22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: 23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should show light unto the people, and to the Gentiles. When Festus heard those words, Luke recorded thusly: 24 And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.  Paul replied: 25 But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness. Truth causes rebellion against God because it takes away the thought that one isn’t a sinner and the idea that one can do as one pleases without consequences.

Those who rail there is no God and claim that the Bible is a fantasy or fairy tale or whatever other term they use to deny his Word, must explain why the more people try to discredit the Bible, the more it proves them wrong. We find in Psalm 14:1: To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Look around at the behavior of those who claim there is no God. You will find adultery, homosexual conduct, lying, stealing, and other sin of all kinds; the behaviors that God tells us are wrong and therefore ungodly. As David said, the works are abominable and none has done anything worthwhile.

When the fools claim that the Bible is false, they place themselves in the position of calling everyone who wrote the Bible a liar, including Jesus, in their process of not believing in God and his Son. Yet, the liar according to scripture is the one wallowing in unbelief. John addressed such in I John 2:22-23: 22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. While many believe that there will be an actual antichrist, John in verse 18 makes it plain there are many of them at work: 18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.  He then as we have read, proceeds to call them liars for denying Christ. Then in I John 4:3 he wrote: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Again, we find John’s words: 2 John 7: 7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

The antichrist is anyone who denies God and his Son; those who teach false doctrine which are doctrines contrary to the Word of truth. David calls them fool’s,  their other name. The means is available today to avoid the consequences of eternal damnation tomorrow. And when the scriptures are proven correct to the fools of today, tomorrow will be too late to obey the gospel.
