In the Vietnam debacle
the war turned into a quagmire because the politicians tried to run a
limited war without any plan to win. The war was run by a political arm
chair general located in Washington D.C, whose name was Lyndon B.
Johnson, a sorry excuse for a President if there ever was one, second
only to Jimmy Carter.
|
|
Liberal Ted Kennedy,
senator from Massachusetts, called Iraq a quagmire which was and is
anything but which shows how much Kennedy knows about deep mud holes. He
is more familiar with deep water, if you get the drift. His liberal
buddies also have no clue about quagmires and the developing scenarios
with Social Security and Medicare is proof of his lack of knowledge of
less than solid ground.

The liberal Democrats
think that the legacy of FDR should be sacred and never touched. Thanks
to him socialism had its birth in this nation and ever so slowly
government began to take over the responsibilities that should be left
to individuals. Social Security is one of them. As great as it sounded
back then it has grown to be a monster that threatens to devour a large
portion of the tax resources of the nation if the program isn’t changed.
It stands to reason that a program that demands more and more resources
from an ever dwindling number of those who pay into it can’t survive
indefinitely. The longer it goes without a repair and restructuring the
deeper the in the hole it will go.
|
|
Of course, tolder
citizens demand that nothing change. They claim they paid in all those
years and they want what they paid. They should have that amount and
have gotten it, because what they paid in has already been given to them
in most cases for those who have been receiving payments for any length
of time. The more the system pays out the deeper the hole because the
money going out belongs to those paying it in, not those receiving it.
In legal terms it is called a ponzi scheme.
|
|
Another problem is
Medicare, a Lyndon Johnson legacy. The states don’t want to assume more
of the cost and the governors can’t be blamed for not wanting the
burden. There isn’t enough money in states to pay the bill and the
federal government doesn’t have it either without raising taxes or
cutting spending in other areas. You know which one it will be when push
comes to shove.
|
|
Rob Reiner, who was
called Meat Head by Archie Bunker (Carroll O’Conner) on All in the
Family, wants more spending and higher taxes which are easily translated
to mean more and bigger government. He wants to increase the burden on
those who make more to help those who make less, the true ideology of
socialism/communism. Archie was right when he called him a Meat Head.
|
|
The tax payers are
facing problems of monumental proportions in trying to fund Social
Security and Medicare. Unless something is done there won’t be enough
money to pay the bills on down the road. The answer is to return the
responsibilities of health care and retirement to the people where it
belongs. But the likes of liberals, Ted Kennedy, Barbara Boxer, Blanche
Lincoln et al in the Senate and Mike Ross, Charlie Rangel et al in the
House want to keep the people from handling their own affairs.
|
|
Their opposition to
change is nothing more than politics of those who can’t stand to see the
legacy of FDR and LBJ go to their deaths as all socialistic schemes will
in the end. FDR and LBJ strayed form the Constitution and paved the way
for the problems of today. The liberals in Congress don’t want to budge.
All they want to do is dig the hole deeper and drive us farther into
total socialism, a true quagmire from which we can’t recover.
