ABUSING GOD’S WORD |
|
For several weeks, in the Voices Section of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, letter writers have written that a “Christian” can’t be a Democrat given that the party supports abortion on demand, homosexual marriage and other behavior associated with deviancy. Members of the Democrat Party have taken umbrage to the letter writers by calling them to account for their beliefs. Does God speak against abortion? Undeniably, the unborn entity being carried by a woman is a small human. No manner of word twisting, euphuisms and denial can change the fact that the unborn of a human is a human baby. A study of the word begat (used 180 times in 120 verse), in the Old Testament leaves no doubt that humans produced humans. In Exodus 20:13 God said, Thou shalt not kill. Kill should be translated murder--to dash to pieces, slay, [to] put to death. Who will deny that abortion is the planned murder of a tiny human being? It should be obvious that anyone who says that they are a “Christian” and supports a party that promotes abortion has a problem. An argument is put forth by Democrat Party supporters and others who claim that Jesus had nothing to say about homosexual behavior or marriage. But he did because he repeated what God said in Genesis 2:24-25 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. There is no way for anyone to construe wife as anyone of the same sex being a wife. The Hebrew word is 'ishshah--pronounced: ish-shaw' (H0802) with one definition being a wife, a woman married to a man. Jesus said when addressing divorce due to a question from the Pharisees in Matthew 19:4-6, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Only those in total denial of God’s truth will argue that it could include homosexuals or isn’t relevant. The Democrat Party is on record of promoting and supporting sin. How can those who claim to be “Christians” support that party and its promotion of sin? A letter printed in the February 14, 2014, Voices column reveals the mind of those who abuse God’s word to justify support of the Democrat Party. The writer admonished a previous writer to check Christ’s greatest commandments: to love God with all your heart, soul and mind (1st and greatest) and your neighbor as yourself (2nd commandment). That is what “Christians” are supposed to do but then the next line abuses God’s message. The God I believe in is more concerned with feeding the poor (food stamps) and seeing the sick healed (Affordable Care Act) than in perceived covetousness. The writer is wrong and is deficient in biblical knowledge and in fact, God, Jesus and the apostles had much to say on the subject of covetousness. Just look it up in the scriptures. The writer, like so many, has constructed her own version of God and made him to be what she wants him to be. If what the writer believes is true, then God would bring food from heaven for everyone as he did for his children in the wilderness. The healing of the sick in the scriptures was to show his power that the message came from God. Were food stamps and health care his real concern? Given that the scriptures do not speak of government being the means by which help of any kind was to be the vehicle for benevolence, her understanding of God’s concern is sorely lacking and she has abused the message of God to support her false doctrine. What was and is God’s concern? Jesus has the answer in John3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. There is no mention of food tamps or health care in God’s message. Salvation and reconciliation of humans to be reunited with him through Christ is his concern and the reason he sent Jesus into the world. Yes, those who believe in God must help the less fortunate, but the message was and is to the church to provide the help; not one word can be found that government is to use social programs (food stamps, heath care and many more types of false help) to do that which “Christians” are instructed to do. Such people as the letter writer can twist, misuse and abuse the message of God all they want. They can construct their own god which many have and that god is government so they can escape their responsibility to those in need. The message of God even provides the identity of the needy and is very much different from those the government says are the needy. One final question is in order. Does government provide salvation or slavery to a man made system of dependence? The answer should be obvious. © 02-14-2014 DEC An Answering Voices article may not be published each month after this one. |
