Liberals seldom if
ever see the follies of their ways even when they adhere to the Marxist
line of "From each according to his ability, to each according to his
need." But that is exactly what the writer of the letter to voices,
3-28-2008 spouted as will be seen at the end of the article. Also the
twisting and spinning of the words written by others, especially me in
this instance, show that the liberal mind in incapable answering
questions when cornered. Since he used my name in the Voices letter, I
am going to be fair and not only use his name in this article, but
publish his letter, which is below my answer. (Read the letter by Mike
Edwards, Jacksonville, Arkansas, to understand the answer to his
foolishness. My letter, to which he refers, is below his.)
|
|
|
Now notice that my
letter never mentioned how many liberals suffer from the mental illness
of believing that others should provide for them (that can be verified
by checking my letter in Voices of 3-22-2008.) Mr. Edwards used the
number of 50 percent, but if observation counts for anything, he is very
close to the right figure. One more item of note is that Edwards never
tried to address the issue that liberals are like children for believing
that those better off should take care of them. Neither does he
understand the oxymoron of academic intelligentsia when referring to
liberal professors.
|
It is true that not
one liberal has answered the question
of why it is right
for the government to take from one and give to another.
Edwards didn’t I am not surprised that he didn’t. If he or any other
liberal answered it, they would expose the socialist/communist ideology
they hold. But he did twist what I wrote. To wit:
I also laughed out loud at Clem’s claim that nobody has answered his
question about why taxing the wealthy is unacceptable.
Mr. Edwards
must be given credit for his great ability to twist the question into
one that was never asked, so I’ll ask it. Why is it acceptable to tax
one person or persons in order to give to another person or group of
persons? Or, why should it be unacceptable to tax one to give to
another? Now Mr. Edwards has two more opportunities to perform his great
ability for twisting words.
|
That
man thinks that a healthy middle class comes from the government taxing
higher income citizens more than other citizens, so the lower income
citizens can receive the largesse. A healthy middle class or any class
for that matter is derived from the government getting out of private
enterprise through dropping the strangling regulations and the
exorbitant taxes on business and individuals. Prior to the Great
Society, businesses were free to do business and individuals were free
of exorbitant taxes; and the middle class did quite well for themselves,
thank you. Taking from one group to give to another to improve economic
standing for any one other group only ruins all concerned. The stagnant
economies of other nations are proof of that truth.
|
At
the end of the letter, Edwards wrote his belief in Marxism: However,
proportionately taxing those people who hold most of the wealth is
clearly equitable. Read carefully the ideology of Edwards in this
next line:
"From each
according to his ability, to each according to his need."
(Karl Marx)
|
Now perhaps you can
understand the reason Edwards and liberals can’t answer the question
posed in my letters about taking from one and giving to another. The
only genius in any of this is the ability of Edwards to twist the issue,
avoid the truth and not answer the question.

Letter in Voices 3-28-2008
written by Mike Edwards.
|
Over the past
several months, I have contributed one or two letters to this page where
I have pretended to adopt some fairly extreme right-wing political views
with the aim of undermining these positions. This now seems to me to be
rather churlish although, in my defense, letter writer Donald E. Clem
has apparently been doing the same as I have, but for much longer.
In his recent letter, Clem hilariously quotes an obscure
Chicago-based psychiatrist’s belief that all liberals are inherently
mentally ill. I can only imagine how people who genuinely hold
conservative viewpoints reacted to such an outrageous claim. Their
disbelief that one of their own could damage their political position by
claiming that approximately 50 percent of the nation suffers from mental
illness is almost palpable.
Clem’s research is particularly commendable as it has been repeatedly
identified that the vast majority of the academic intelligentsia hold
moderate to liberal political beliefs. I also laughed out loud at Clem’s
claim that nobody has answered his question about why taxing the wealthy
is unacceptable. Anyone who has read my previous letters would be able
to refer Clem to their content and why successful wealthy countries
attempt to promote a strong middle class. Placing the bulk of the tax
burden on the middle class would undermine this. However,
proportionately taxing those people who hold most of the wealth is
clearly equitable.
Clem’s
portrayal of this brand of blinkered conservatism is sheer genius.

My letter to Voices 3-22-2008
|
|
Dr. Lyle H. Rossiter Jr., a psychiatrist, has written a book about
liberals in which he says that they are suffering from mental illness
that bodes ill for them and the nation. No doubt the liberals will rage
at the mention that they aren’t of sound mind.
|
|
There are three basic groups in our society. One is composed of those
who believe that work is the way to get ahead instead of depending on
the government. A second group is made of those who work and are content
for the most part with their position in life. The third group is those
who have grown into adulthood wanting the government to take care of
them. They believe that some people have too much and they should be
forced by the government to give a portion to those who are lacking in
some aspect of material life.
|
|
Small children demand that parents give them more and more. Infantile
adults demand that the government take from the “rich” and give the
largesse to them, since, after all, the rich can afford it. There has to
be some sort of mental lack to believe that it’s right to expect that
anyone should be forced to give to others.
|
|
To date, the question of why it is right for the government to take
from one and give to another hasn’t been answered. The answer, “It’s not
right,” would be easy for liberals if they only sought treatment for
their illness.

On
3-27-2008, Mike Edwards wrote, “I also laughed out loud at Clem’s claim
that nobody has answered his question about why taxing the wealthy is
unacceptable.” He was referring to the following statement in my letter
of 3-22-2008: “To date, the question of why it is right for the
government to take from one and give to another hasn’t been answered.”
Not one person of any belief has answered that question, but Edwards
tried to answer by twisting the words in my letter into what wasn’t
written.
|
He also wrote that
I claimed that approximately 50 percent of the nation suffers from
mental illness. I used no number and wrote only that Dr. Lyle H.
Rossiter Jr., a psychiatrist, has written a book about liberals in which
he says that they are suffering from mental illness that bodes ill for
them and the nation. I also wrote that the liberals would rage when they
read that they weren’t of sound mind. I believe we have proof of that in
the Edwards letter.
|
In reference to
taxing others in order to give to the less well off Edwards wrote,
“However, proportionately taxing those people who hold most of the
wealth is clearly equitable.” A man many years ago wrote, "From each
according to his ability, to each according to his need." That was Karl
Marx and the ideology of Edwards holds is only different in the words
used.
|
Twisting statements
suits Edwards well. Is anyone surprised at his sheer genius?
