ANTI-LIFE RAGE

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. (Psalms 1:1) Then in verse 6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. That verse is followed with Psalms 2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?  Peter quoted 2:1 in Acts 4:25. The word heathen is used generally for those outside of God’s realm at the time; specifically the Gentiles, who according to the word usage, linked them to pagan rituals. In other words, they worshipped other gods instead of the God who created them.

Other gods worship is alive and well in Arkansas. The legislature passed two abortion limiting bills and over rode the veto of both bills Governor Mike Beebe. Predictably the abortion worshippers are in a rage, behaving as the verses quoted above state. An editorial in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, March 8, 2013 points out that the governor argued that legal and economic considerations prompted the veto of both bills, but the editorialist rightfully wrote that the governor overlooked one important element-the inalienable dignity of human life.

In the Declaration of Independence, life given by the Creator (God) is the paramount reason for being separate from England because the Crown was inhibiting the full freedom and liberty that God intends for his creation to enjoy. It is not anything goes type of freedom and liberty, but that which is enjoyed within the lines teachings of our loving God who wants nothing but the best for his creation. And that not only includes the living, but yet to be conceived and the unborn in various stages of development. The Constitution has the word progeny in it which means the children yet to be born.

A dichotomy of sorts exists in those who support abortion. Those with life support the killing of those yet to be born, but the pro-death crowd would more than likely resist any effort to deprive them of their life. Who gave them the right to decide who would live and who will not?

It all began when Harry Blackmun signed the death warrant for the unborn with Roe v Wade decision in 1973. The Supreme Court said that expectant mothers could determine who should live and who shouldn’t. Now those who think it is right to kill the unborn state that it is the law of the land and they intend to keep it that way. As the Psalmist said they imagine vain things; they think they are above following God’s laws to the extent they offer all kinds of arguments for allowing abortion. Abortion is one of their gods amongst the many the ungodly follow.

Any mention of morality brings more rage. They yell that they are being deprived of their rights; that others are attempting to force them into following what they do not want to follow. Do they not understand that God gave women the duty of motherhood which is the highest honor that can be bestowed on them? Abortion cheapens their existence because of the attitude (though many excuses are given for having an abortion) that their life is more important than the life of the tiny being forming within the confines of their womb. Again that is vain imaging on their part.

It is well recognized that to the pro-death supporters, abortion is a sacred idol that shall not be taken away. Abortion reduces life to a cheap commodity which must be allowed because any defiance costs society too much money to defend when it is challenged. That is the depth or better, the shallowness of their beliefs.

Those who hold that they have the right to kill the unborn should read the verses that began the article. They are behaving in the way of the pagans and heathen of old. They will not like that statement but that is God’s words. And remember, God will not change his mind no matter how much they rage. If the shoe fits, wear it.
