  BLIND TO THE TRUTH

It was with hesitation that the lesson you are about to read was placed in the Bible lesson section. Yet, God has seen fit to tell us the facts of life concerning right conduct versus sinful conduct. And there is no doubt that homosexual conduct is sinful except to those who are homosexuals and liberal Democrat politicians and their supporters. The inclusion of liberal Democrats and the supporters may not set well with a few readers, but God doesn’t deal with truth in a vacuum. His word applies to all facets of life whether dissenters like it or not. This lesson will apply the Bible practically to the problem facing us rather than just exposing and commenting on scriptures that deal with homosexual sin.

Jesus spoke the following: 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:31-32) It is plain to see that those engaging in homosexual sin aren’t following the word of Christ, and they most assuredly don’t want to hear the truth. It is much like the day when Stephen preached the truth to them. Rather than believe the truth he spoke about their murderous conduct in the sight of God, they were enraged and then stoned him to death. Luke recorded in Acts 7:54, When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. The same types who don’t want to confront their sinful behavior are railing against the mayor in Florida for telling the truth.

When Paul spoke about his conversion to Christ those who heard it didn’t like it at all. In Acts 22: 22-23 we find: And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live. 23 And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air, and wanted to scourge (whip) him. Truth makes people mad and angry enough to want to kill the messenger and in some cases they did.

There is another aspect to the blindness of truth. When those who engage in sinful conduct are Republicans, the liberals demand their scalp. When it is liberals, they think it isn’t any big deal. It makes no difference the name of the political affiliation; sin is sin in God’s eyes. Of course, if you don’t believe in God then there is no sin, and therefore the conduct can’t be reprehensible. In the case of the liberals, the verse that the love of money is the root of all evil (I Timothy 6:10) can be applied as "for the love of party is the root of all political evil."  The ungodly quest for power fits also.

The word of truth is plain about what God expects. In Exodus 34:14 the people of God were told in no uncertain terms the following: For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: That is very plain and that truth remains to this day for all people. Daily we hear and see those who put party affiliation above God and actually believe that a political party can make sin to be not sin, and thus it will be acceptable. Homosexual conduct is placed on a par with normal conduct and anyone who says otherwise is a homophobe, a bigot, Bible thumper, and worse. Things haven’t changed much regarding sin from the time Jesus spoke to the sinners; when Stephen was stoned, and Paul was threatened with a whipping.

Christians were persecuted for following and speaking the truth. We are witnessing the same behavior from unbelievers today toward believers. They are being arrested and harassed for speaking the good news of Christ and his message about the ravages of sin. It is obvious that those in Florida and in other places that are putting homosexuals and their conduct on a pedestal are following a false god of the worst kind. (Sodom and Gomorrah Florida)

Even those who claim to be Christians have fallen into the trap of proclaiming that God loves everyone so homosexual conduct is acceptable. But let’s heed the words of Jesus in Matthew 15:8-9 as he addressed the Jews. The principle applies to today as well: 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. The claim concerning the acceptability of homosexual conduct is false and nothing but the commandment of depraved humans who are blind to the truth.
