BRUMMETT AND FLEAS |
|
John Brummett could not get over the notion that it was wrong for Mitt Romney to have a 50,000 dollar per plate dinner in Little Rock for those who could afford the donation. It is neither his business nor the business of anyone else. For the umpteenth time, John, people spend their money as they see fit. Granted, there may have been a minor number of those attending who expected some favor along the line, but John, that is human behavior, so get over it. Most of those who were there had “skin in the game” of economics and they rightfully want to protect their earnings from a greedy dictator wannabe known as the nut job known as the nut job on this site (aka Barack Hussein Obama) from fundamentally changing the republic. Such protection is normal human behavior and also known as survival. When Mitt Romney said 47 % of the people pay no taxes, he should have excluded those who by reason of the tax laws and their income are lawfully not paying taxes. As to the others, Romney was correct that those who receive government welfare handouts from rent subsidies to habitual use of food stamps to government housing would vote for the nut job. They believed it was in their interest to keep him in office since their livelihood depends on the largesse. John Brummett and all of those who think as he does would do well to read the article written by Pat Buchanan that appeared on World Net Daily, September 21, 2012 where in a couple of the lefts icons, FDR and D Gene McCarty were quoted about depending on the government. The quote from FDR follows “Continued dependence upon relief induces a spiritual and moral disintegration fundamentally destructive to the national fiber. To dole out relief in this way is to administer a narcotic, a subtle destroyer of the human spirit. … The Federal Government must and shall quit this business of relief.” Ironically after making that statement, FDR opened the flood gates for government aid with his New Deal policies and programs. That is more evidence of a liberal politician speaking the truth and then refusing to follow his own advice. It’s called talking out of both corners of the mouth at the same time because what the poobahs say they will do and what they actually do are two different quantities. Mr. Brummett can’t stand it that those with money don’t have to pay higher taxes to keep the Marxist inspired government operating. In his column September 19, 2012, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, he wrote, “They also appreciated that he wants to reduce government services for poor people. They believe that using the government to help poor people just encourages poor people to stay poor and live lucratively off food stamps and Medicaid.” First, the Constitution does not give any authority to government to help anybody except as warranted by the limitations in Article I, Section 8 that help everyone. Second, since the nut job illegally dropped the work requirement to be eligible for welfare benefits, food stamp beneficiaries have increased and since 2007 the use has more than doubled. Third, LBJ began the Great Society programs and the war on poverty. The government set an arbitrary level for poverty and anyone below that level was in poverty. After 47 years of the noble help, the number in poverty has not decreased and has actually increased since the poverty line income has increased according to many news accounts. (Do the research.) Candidate Romney is right that many liberals and those on welfare (some, one and the same) believe they are victims of the free enterprise free market system. Callers to various talk radio shows complain that the “rich” or “wealthy” have deliberately devised ways to keep them in the poor category. The last sentence of Mr. Brummett’s column echoes that very thought where he wrote that many of the economically oppressed “will vote for this man who talks so inaccurately and slanderously about them in the secret company of the super-rich who wage class warfare against them.” Notice the last 8 words of the super-rich who wage class warfare against them.” How do the super-rich wage class warfare on those who have less? Do they arise each morning and devise ways to take more from those who have less or very little compared to their (the super-rich) holdings? That is flea brained thinking if there ever was such thinking. John Brummett isn’t being accused of being a flea brain, but he does keep expecting those who make the economy hum support the government defined poor just as a flea continues to live off of the animal host. But I must apologize for the flea comment with all apologies to the flea. Flea behavior dictates that they live off of the host and Mr. Brummett should know better than to expect that other humans should live off of the host, the income producers of the republic. Does he think humans are no better than fleas? Sadly, if some of the editorial page articles (Arkansas Democrat-Gazette) and letters to Voices are reliable indications there are a lot of fleas, not only in Arkansas but in other states too. © 03-25-2013 Attribution to the article parts quoted is to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and John Brummett, columnist.
