DEFINITION OF A PATRIOT

The year 1776 was the year in which events to cut the English rope strangling the colonies changed the world. Due to those events that culminated in the formation of the Republic of the United States, the world was able to learn what self rule or self-government was able to accomplish. Instead of the people being ruled by kings, despots and dictators, the people had the power to make the laws though duly elected office holders answerable to the people. The United States was founded by men and women called patriots, most of who believed in God. They used his principles to craft the government ruled by the Constitution. It is the guiding document that limits the government and gives the people of the republic the power over the elected and appointed, making them the servants rather than the people being the slaves of those in positions of authority. But as the years passed the people of United States have watched the power-switch from the people to the elected and appointed so that government now holds the power. The people have watched the switch of power from their hands to those exercising authority. July 4th, 1776 should be celebrated as the date the citizens began the long struggle for independence. Now millions of people want more dependence on the government. The article below is a brief explanation of how the switch of power from independence to dependence has taken place.

Mention the word patriot and the goons currently infesting the seat of power with its tentacles reaching out from Washington D.C. immediately issue warnings of the danger that the TEA Party, patriot groups, conservatives and others pose to the government. Using the vantage point of their unconstitutional beliefs, they protect their fiefdom from the danger of being toppled. Enraged, they and their useful idiots point to the law that says the government cannot be overthrown. That law is pointed squarely at the constitutional government, not the den of iniquity that is currently wielding draconian power.

What is the definition of a patriot? A patriot is an individual who honors God by following his timeless principles; one who shows reverence for things holy; one who respects and follows the Constitution in all government matters; one who defends the republic against enemies foreign and domestic; one who goes to the aid of his or her fellow man when adversity strikes; one who uses his or her means to help others in need; one who raises his or her family to be respectful and law abiding; one who provides for their family by the labor and sweat of his or her effort without asking government for handouts or expecting them; one who expects criminals to be given their just reward, including the death penalty, when they are found guilty of their  heinous crimes; one who expects government employees to follow the same laws and rules  as non-governmental citizens; one who honors the flag as it represents a republic that is lead by God; one who will not give  aid and comfort to any enemy; claiming some religion or not; one who is not afraid to speak up against the atrocity of abortion; one who will speak out against the honoring homosexual conduct and any others that the reader can put in the list.

Those in the list above were chosen for two particular reasons. One is to identify those in government that are not patriots. Is it suggested that all government employees are unpatriotic? No, it is only those who identify themselves as such by their deeds, such as certain employees in the IRS harassment agency. How can government employees, our employees, be patriotic when they refuse to be identified by those behaviors that identify true patriots? Their behavior gives them away as Jesus said, “ye shall know them by their fruits.” And by any definition, their fruits are rotten to the core. Is it being suggested that the rulers running government aren’t patriotic? No, it isn’t being suggested. It is stated that they aren’t patriotic no matter how much they may protest.

Two, the other reason is simple. Anyone who expects to receive the wealth of others through any means, except that which is given willingly, is not patriotic. Yes, there are those who need help from time to time, but is that not the duty of those who are able to help those in need. The republic has a certain group of people who demand that the government look after them and the government is only too willing to comply. Paul told the people in Thessalonica, For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. (II Thessalonians 3:10) The correct translation is he should not expect to eat. Yet, there are millions of people in our republic who believe they have a right to be fed as a result of the labors of others. Not only do they believe they have that right, they demand that the government force other citizens to do so. Is that demand patriotic? The answer is no. That may be considered socially and politically incorrect. Tough!

True patriots expect the government to follow the Constitution so that the laws passed will be in accordance with the Constitution. Passage of such laws has not been done for years upon years, and now anyone who makes any attempt to change back to the constitutional system is viewed as the enemy. Count me as the enemy. I am in good company with millions of my patriotic, freedom and liberty loving citizens.
