DENYING THE TRUTH

Daily in the newspapers, on the radio, and on the TV we hear of all types of behavior, that if done 50 years ago or more, a trip to the woodshed and or jail, without so much as please or thank you very much would have been offered. Wrong, illegal, criminal, and immoral behavior abounds from the schools to professional people to the home. Where did it all begin? Simply, the home and by extension society, wherein both have lost the way of decency and decent behavior and now we are paying the price for the laxness.

A segment of society has been successful in driving God out of our lives by using liberal judges to rule against anything that would cause people to take responsibility for their conduct. Any mention of principles connected to God that have helped ensure an orderly society, causes the scream that the separation of church and state is being violated. Unfortunately, that has been swallowed by too many, including parents who don’t want anything about God said to their children anywhere at anytime.

Whether people like the words of the Bible or not, it none the less applies to the situations being discussed. Paul wrote, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:1-4)  There are key words that should be heeded. They are obey, right, honour, well, live long, don’t provoke, and nurture and admonition of the Lord.  Our society is failing miserably on the instructions involved in those key words for a lot of reasons too numerous to mention here.

Children are killing their parents, grandparents, and siblings; parents are committing heinous crimes against their children; adults in all segments of society, teachers, lawyers, priests, policemen, judges, preachers, and others in areas of public responsibility, are using and abusing others, especially kids and other young people, to satisfy their lusts and criminal tendencies. In other words, we are reaping the fruits of a godless, hedonistic society which has infected all areas of life.

When the move began to limit God in public life it began with adults, who in many cases were and are parents that refused to honor God. That small beginning has mushroomed to the point that anything that mentions values and morals is derided as old fashioned, insensitive, in tolerant, politically incorrect, and hateful. It is those who are deep in sin that are the worst at calling people names and chanting slogans when their ungodly ways are challenged.

To make matters worse, those who should know better, preachers, so called Christians, and those who profess some modicum of belief in God, cower at the assault and won’t become involved. It becomes peace at any price and the rabble continue to rule the day with nothing to impede their progress to install evil in our nation.

Those mentioned in the foregoing paragraph and others wring their hands and cry about the conditions and wonder what can be done. The answer is to stop denying the truth that the removal of God’s ways from our society has turned loose the powers of evil and allowed the ungodly to take over. When men and women who value good and right stand up and proclaim the way of God by showing it in their lives, the evil forces will eventually crawl back into their dirty nests. Until then they are going to continue to foul society and bring nothing but ruin to our way of life.
