Thomas Jefferson said, God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever; The words of Mr. Jefferson should be heeded by everyone, but they have not been observed for many years. God was declared dead in 1957 so there is no need to follow what doesn’t exist.

God does not intrude where he is not wanted. Effort was made years go to remove God from the schools; that effort is on going with increasing fervor by the God hating groups, most notably the ACLU, the atheist groups and others. Any mention of God or Jesus in public meetings brings the wrath of the self-righteous down on the believers. It is easy to understand; when God is present he leaves no room for the tin gods that want to rule to please themselves.

In 1907, Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell gathered together 20 boys whom he wanted to teach the arts of sacrifice and survival. That early effort to train young men eventually evolved on February 8, 1910 into the Boy Scouts of America. From the beginning, the emphasis has been on Duty to God and country, other people and to self. In the duty to self was the requirement to be morally straight; it means to live your life with honesty, to be clean in your speech and actions, and to be a person of strong character. That is after all what God requires of each individual.

However, on May 23, 2013, the majority of the delegates to the Boy Scout Convention voted overwhelmingly to allow youths into membership who say they are homosexuals, thus changing the nature and character of the organization forever. But it isn’t going to stop with the membership. The clamor to allow homosexual adult leaders began even before the vote.

An organization that required moral fidelity to God will take a step down the ladder into more immorality. Does anyone believe that sexual molestation will not be part of the behavior of the homosexual youth? Would the same people who voted for the change allow their daughters to co-mingle with males in certain situations due to a belief that seduction would not be part of the scene?   

Churches are allowing homosexuals into membership without any effort to cause them to repent of their sins and follow God. The Episcopal Church has homosexual clergy as do a few other denominations. Supposedly those groups exist to serve God, but do they?

Jesus spoke to the scribes and Pharisees of his day about such matters. He said of the self serving Jews when they questioned his not keeping the tradition of not eating with unwashed hands. He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. 7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. 8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. (Mark 7:6-8) The same mind is found in so called churches today. They piously speak of God and deny him by their conduct. They bow to the pressure of the homosexual agenda to make immoral behavior acceptable. They pay lip service to God, but in reality they do not believe what they claim.

A question must be answered. How will the Scouts teach anything from the scriptures pertaining to moral duty? That the leaders must answer because Paul spoke to the mixing of morals with immorality. The Corinthian community was immoral to the core. The people practiced all manner of ungodly behavior before becoming members of the body of Christ and many of them continued to do so after their supposed conversion. They wanted to keep conducting business as usual. Paul wrote, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16  And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (I Corinthians 14-18)  In verse 17 he said, be ye separate. But since the Scouts invited uncleanness into their membership instead of keeping it out, where is the separation from deliberate sin?

Then Paul wrote in Corinthians 7:1Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Those who think that allowing admitted homosexuals into scouting is good need to explain how the debauchery associated with deviant behavior complies with cleansing oneself from filthiness of the flesh and the perfecting of holiness.

What we are seeing in our republic is the bowing to sinful conduct of all kinds rather than having the spine to say no. As such, the descent into the sewer continues, and it won’t stop until God is truly honored in the life of enough individuals that God’s principles of right conduct will prevail once again in our republic. Until that happens, the impending destruction should make everyone with any sense tremble at what awaits us. Read again the words of Thomas Jefferson again.
