There is an old saying that never goes out of date: What goes
around comes around and the republic of the United States is
close to coming full circle. One of the reasons at the top of
the list for grievances against England was religious freedom
which King George III and the Church of England would not allow.
The colonists wanted to worship God as they understood the
scriptures and as their consciences dictated, but King George
said no. The revolutionary War was the result of his knuckle
headed decision. In essence he said, “I am the King and you will
do as I say or else.” King George found out the meaning of else,
but it was not quite like he imagined it.
Today, January 2, 2013, the people of the United States are
facing a similar edict from one who would be king. But before
addressing that issue, an examination of the Declaration of
Independence and the Constitution is in order.
A particular line in the Declaration is well known or should be
since it is foundation, other than the Bible, for all that we
humans have and do. We hold these truths to be
self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are
endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that
among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That
to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men,
deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.
Those words are the substance of the life of every human on
the face of the earth, but unfortunately not all believe it,
much less follow it, including the government of the United
States.
To begin the next part, Amendment I of the Bill
of Rights is in order: Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free
exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the
press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to
petition the government for a redress of grievances. No
formal, dictated mandatory government religion shall be
established; one shall be free to practice his or her belief
without government interference. That is being shoved aside by
the ruling class in Washington D.C.
The First Amendment is the most essential part for all of our
liberties and conforms to the Declaration as quoted above.
Without that freedom we are bound to the rule of those who fancy
themselves gods, which is now taking place in the republic. The
nut job and Kathleen Sibelius claim they can force
believers/Christians to violate their consciences because the
dictatorial poobahs have ruled that they must do so. Judges have
ruled that conscience means nothing and the latest is a ruling
by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor that
Hobby Lobby has no grounds to contest the contraceptive mandate.
Arguments put forth by government attorneys make no sense except
to unbelievers in the government. They say that once one forms
an organization or becomes a member of one which isn’t
religious, that person or person loses their right of conscience
called religious freedom. In other words, the only place that
religion is properly exercised is in the church building or home
or with a religious oriented endeavor. Further, they state
that the administration argues it can force a person to act
against his religion so long as the coercion is done under the
authority of a law that is neutral and generally applicable—in
other words, as long as the law was not written specifically to
persecute Christians as Christians, the government can use that
law to persecute Christians. They are actually arguing,
when their words are examined, that the law at issue is amending
the Constitution. Where in the First Amendment does it say that
a law causes the forfeiture of any right to worship or speak, or
practice what is believed? They totally disregard Article VI
which has the words pursuant to which means that
all laws and treaties must conform to the all parts of the
Constitution. Laws nor treaties do not and cannot amend the
Constitution nor do away with any part of it. Yet, that is
exactly what the dictators in D.C. are trying to do.
Jesus said to the people of his day
Ye are the light of the world. A city
that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a
candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it
giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light
so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and
glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew
5:14-16) Hobby Lobby is making their light shine for the benefit
of their employees, community and society in general. The First
Amendment does not limit the where or the how for the practice
of belief nor does it rule one’s conscience in worship to God in
any manner.
Thomas Jefferson's Notes on the State of Virginia were also part
of the Republican Notes on Religion and an Act Establishing
Religious Freedom, Passed in the Assembly of Virginia, in the
Year 1786: Our rulers can have no other authority over
such natural rights, only as we have submitted to them (in a
social compact). The rights of conscience we never submitted, we
could not submit. We are answerable for them to our God...

However, the modern King
George III, the nut job in the Oval Office, and Her Madness
Sibelius are determined to chop the First Amendment to pieces.
If they can force a violation of religious conscience under
penalty of the law, then the nut job can force anything he
desires under the rubric of “It is the law, I said and you will
do it or else.” That is the way we are headed as the nut job
gains more and more power due to no one stepping forward to stop
him, legally of course. He and his sycophants need to learn the
meaning of or else from the stand point of freedom and liberty
as did King George III.
In closing, a few words from Noah Webster are most relevant to
the government agents now in power. The moral principles
and precepts contained in the Scriptures ought to form the basis
of all of our civil constitutions and laws.... All the miseries
and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition,
injustice, oppression, slavery and war, proceed from their
despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible.
When you become entitled to exercise the right of voting for
public officers, let it be impressed on your mind that God
commands you to choose for rulers "just men who will rule in the
fear of God." The preservation of a republican government
depends on the faithful discharge of this duty; If the citizens
neglect their duty and place unprincipled men in office, the
government will soon be corrupted; laws will be made not for the
public good so much as for the selfish or local purposes Corrupt
or incompetent men will be appointed to execute the laws; the
public revenues will be squandered on unworthy men; and the
rights of the citizens will be violated or disregarded. If a
republican government fails to secure public prosperity and
happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the divine
commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the laws.
Sage words of wisdom from a very wise man who very well
expresses the cause of the problems in the past year of 2012 and
now in the year 2013. When the nut job and his political thugs
indicate we are to do it or else, we need to respond with "Or
else what? It ain't gonna' happen; that's our
definition of what."
