I showed up on your doorstep, without a thing to give, You welcomed me with open arms and a better way to live. At my face, my clothes, my boots, my hair, you didn’t even glance, But you knew what I was there for, to ask God for one more chance. I was saved when I was younger but never walked in faith, I came to you that morning hurt and in disgrace. You came to me and hugged me without a question one, You only wanted the best for me, the love of God’s only son. You loved me and you hugged me and did not question me, You only wanted all the best, Jesus’ face for me to see. When the service started I sat and felt God’s love, A shower rained from the ceiling, God’s grace from heaven above. I began to cry and got worse and worse but knowing then and there, That my prayers were answered that very day because you took the time to care. I lived my way most of my life and came real close to dying, Each time I survived it was by God’s grace, he never did stop trying. I always thought I had the plan, my work to be done, But now I see God’s only plan was for me to see His Son. To love, to praise, to worship him, any time, any place, anywhere, My prayers this day are answered because you took time to care. You loved me and you hugged me and did not question me, You only wanted all the best, Jesus’ face for me to see. © 2004 JEC
