Letters to the editor in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, Voices
page, are allowed only 250 words every month and a half. (Sometimes the
letters from Christians are edited to as much as half that number of
words.) Atheists and liberals, on the other hand, are allowed even more
than 250 words at times. Atheists can make more accusations against
believers, God and the Bible, than can be answered in 250 pages. This
reply and the next two are answers to their letters.

I don’t have faith enough to be an atheist. The notion that “Nobody plus
nothing equals everything” is pretty dumb. Comparing the alternative
mechanisms of the beginning of life, both, or either, require faith.
Because both define a religious viewpoint, one is chance, the other is
design. Yet, creation is rejected as “religion.” Random life
development, “evolution” is not.

Anyone who says that there is not a war against Christianity and the
Bible today is deaf and dumb. For the village atheists and secular
fundamentalists, religion in general, and the Bible in particular, are
not just wrongheaded but actually dangerous. Religion and the Bible
stand in the way of everything they value most in life; primarily
unlimited sex, and the power to reshape utopia, free from traditional
ethics restraints.

The eruption of Islamic terrorism worldwide has given secular
fundamentalists the excuse they've needed to draw a circle around all
religious belief and insist its all the same. But they are too different
to be the same. Drawing a parallel with Islamic terrorists who advocate
mass suicide bombings, secular atheists claim these “Christianist”
figures are now scheming to impose a kind of Christian theocracy on the
"enlightened" secular societies. The Islamics are planning to conquer
the world and impose Shariah law. But they are not “Christianist”
figures. It’s not even the same God. People who say those who oppose
abortion and stem cell research are no different from Islamic terror
groups, and that Mother Theresa was no different from Osama bin Laden,
just using different methods, are mentally sick and in great need of a
good psychiatrist.

These thoughts are not original. For more than 300 years, from the
philosophies of Marx, Lenin, and the “death of God” theologies of the
1960’s, they have assured us that that freeing the world of
“superstitions and imbecilities of organized religion, rational
secularists could make the world into a utopia. The results have been
horrific. From the French revolution to the terrors of Nazism and
Communism, more lives have been snuffed out by faith-hating fanatics
than by religious believers. Sixty-one million people murdered in Russia
from 1917-1987. In Communist China, from 1949 to the present, 35.2
million people murdered. Mao’s army murdered 3.4 million from 1923-1949.
Nazi Germany murdered 20 million, (1932-1949). In Communist Poland,
(1945-1948), 1.6 million murdered. In Communist Cambodia from
(1975-1979), two million murdered. From 1945-1975, in Communist Vietnam,
1.6 million murdered. One million murdered in Communist Yugoslavia
(1944-1987). One point four million murdered in the Anti-Christian
Mexican Revolution in 1900-1920. One point eight million murdered in
Turkey 1900-1918. One point five million murdered in Pakistan in
958-1987 alone. Five point nine million murdered in Japan, (1936-1945).
These people were usually lined up against brick walls and shot by the
so-called “rational,” more “scientific” social planners of Communist
China and Russia, or anti-Christian Mexico and Germany often for the
crime of merely believing in God. That doesn’t include soldiers killed
in wars initiated by these anti-Christian states, such as the estimated
25 million soldiers killed in WW II. Neither does it include the 50
million killed by abortion in the last 34 years in this country, nor
millions more world wide. Any unborn child killed by abortion in America
was a U.S. citizen. Every day more than 3,000 babies are butchered in
their mother’s womb. As Pope Paul said in 1996, “A nation that kills its
children has no future.” So the most deadly evil to afflict humanity in
the 20th Century was not war, or Christianity, but atheistic
governments. These Communist tyrants were dogmatic atheists that killed
in the name of “science,” rational state planning, and revolutionary
“morality.”

Now for some atheist “Wisdom,” versus the Bible. Joseph Stalin said “A
single death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic.” Matthew
10:29-31 says “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of
them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very
hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of
more value than many sparrows.”

We gasp at the wholesale historical ignorance displayed by the atheistic
contemporary secular fundamentalists; at their utter lack of knowledge
about events as recent as the fall of the Berlin wall as they prattle on
about how much more “rational” they are and how much more “moral” their
social policies would be freed from the “superstition” of biblical
religion. But a Century of firsthand bloody experience with “rational”
atheism has proven that it is atheism, not the Bible or religious belief
that is the greatest danger to world peace.
