What does the left (socialistic adherents) fear about free speech? The answer isn’t difficult if the attempt to suppress free speech is brought into the discussion. A man named Jesus Christ and his followers were hounded by the left of that day and eventually they attempted  to silence  Jesus by hanging him on the cross and beheaded his followers as the years rolled past, the standard forms of execution in that day. Of course those being silenced didn’t have the benefit of all the modern liberal thinking that execution isn’t proper. Yet I suspect that if society would allow it, liberals of this day and age would think it proper, if the words of Howard Dean when he said he hated Republicans could be carried out. Dean and his ilk (ilk perhaps not strong enough) use free speech to spread their venomous ideas, but when they meet opposition that they are less than cordial in the acceptance of differing ideas doesn’t describe their reactions.

Freedom to speak presents a certain peril to those who would be the oppressors. The Pharisees oppressed the Jews of that day with pronouncements that weren’t lawful, twisting the Jewish Law to meet and suit their purposes for the power and control and the preeminence it gave them. Jesus came and began to challenge their ideas and of course he met resistance for it and ultimately suffered and died on a cross. His followers were stoned, beaten, imprisoned and hated by those who have their own agendas that aren’t in line with the truth.  

The liberal brand of truth is anything but what the founders gave us in the beginning. They wrote, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Truths is the operative word that life, liberty, and happiness come from God and that any God believing person can see that without being told. Being equal is one idea that the left can’t stand because in their eyes only they can make people equal and they do it by dragging others down to their level. Endowed means to be given something of worth which comes from another, and in this case it is the Creator.

The declaration of the founders using word Creator is the chief irritant of the liberals. That means God and that can’t be because they and government are the giver of all things since they and government can distribute the goodies to those who they say are not equal. With their brand of truth they refuse to accept that God says no one person is better than another person. The liberal says that some are less equal and those who they claim are the betters must come down to create equality as others are lifted up. The only problem is that the liberal created lessers are never lifted up and those with more end up with less with nothing to show for it except an empty wallet.

Now where does free speech enter into the discussion? The only way liberals can prevent the people from learning the truth that God is the giver of life, liberty, and happiness, and not government, is to suppress any from of speech that indicates that they and the government aren’t the all powerful giver of everything including happiness.

Free speech interferes with the leftist’s agenda to banish God because if they can’t do so their efforts go for naught. Just as the rulers of Rome and the Pharisees feared Jesus and had to get rid of him, they fear anyone who speaks out against their humanism and the inevitable nihilistic end which is the history of any rule that is without God leading the way.

Free speech isn’t in their lexicon and neither is truth since they didn’t create it.  And neither is God since he is the truth they deny.
