The actual title of this article is GET OUT OF OUR LIVES NOW. I don’t
mean tomorrow, I mean right now, this very instant. This article isn’t
for the brain dead, those dependent on the nanny state, but for those
who want freedom from the government telling us what to do and who want
our liberty restored so we can do as we desire within the bounds of
common sense and moral decency. I have had enough of Harry Reid, Nancy
Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Charlie Schumer, Vic Snyder, Mark Pryor, et al,
Barack Obama and John McCain. Where in the world did the political
crowd, both Democrats and Republicans, ever get the idea they are so
smart they need to tell millions of people how to live and what to do?
|
|
The intrusion into our lives began with FDR’s New Deal; continued with
Truman’s Fair Deal; went forward with John Kennedy’s New Frontier; LBJ
ushered in the Great Society with the War on Poverty; George W. Bush
used Compassionate Conservatism; and Obama touts Change and Hope. Each
one of those was and is directed at more government and more intrusion
into our affairs that is none of the government’s business.
|
|
Obama wants to strangle us more with an energy policy sure to bring
changes no one will want. He doesn’t want to drill anywhere; he wants
big investments in alternative energy research. Read that as more taxes
on the “rich” to pay for his schemes.
Obama opposes lifting the gas tax, arguing that prices would still rise
while eliminating a needed source of revenue. He opposes lifting the ban
on offshore exploration, arguing such a move would provide no
appreciable savings to consumers now. He wants to keep the
government in our lives to please the other countries. He said,
"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes
on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries
are going to say OK."
In addition, he wants to expand
entitlement programs, meaning more people will be entitled to dip into
the pockets of those whom Obama believes should pay most of the cost of
government. Translation: The Obama form of Communism. Won’t it be
wonderful?
|
|
John McCain wants to give tax credits to those buying insurance, but he
will
tax employer contributions toward health insurance like income, meaning
workers would have to pay income, but not payroll, taxes on it. In
other words, if insurance isn’t bought as the government desires, then
the workers will be taxed because they disobeyed the mighty government.

Now we arrive at Senator Harry Reid who is less brilliant than a burned
out light bulb. He and President Bush have invaded our homes with
mandated mercury laden bulbs. Bush signed the energy bill that mandated
that food crops be used to make ethanol fuel which is helping to fuel a
rise in the cost of food. The bulbs and fuel are more government
intrusions on our liberty. That law limits our choices for products and
extracts more dollars from our pockets, not to mention increased
government control of our lives.
|
|
Harry Reid showed his continuing non-brilliance when he said,
"coal is making us sick, oil is making us sick – we're ruining our
country, we're ruining the planet." The truth is Harry, you and your
ignorant ilk are making those of us sick who aren’t dependent on
government and who have enough sense not to swallow your bilge. It’s you
and your ilk who are ruining our country’s liberty by imposing
tyrannical laws that we must follow or else.
|
|
Roger Hedgecock ended his article with the following paragraph “…
Sen. Reid, stop the madness. If you really believe (with my county
supervisor) that we must stop using all coal, natural gas and oil, then
you have become the Mad Hatter of American politics. Please step aside
for new leadership capable of rational thought and bipartisan problem
solving.” (Unquote)
|
|
In Sorting It Out, I’ll be less charitable to Harry Reid than Mr. Hedgecock. Simply,
you and those like you, Republicans and Democrats alike, GET OUT OF OUR
LIVES NOW and leave us alone so we can go about restoring the greatness
of this nation which you and your ungodly fellows are ruining more and
more with each passing day that you remain in office.
