There is a song, “Go Tell it On the Mountain” in which instructions are
given to “go tell Aunt Rhode that the old grey goose is dead.” A more
modern version to the words is the title of this article, “go tell Aunt
Nanny that the constitutional republic is dead.” It is suspected that
few know that a constitutional republic is the type of government we are
supposed to have and if they do, it seems not very many care that it is
disappearing since the hue and cry now is to “go tell Aunt Nanny” to
solve personal problems. One problem is that the politicians are all too
eager to solve problems which are none of their business and based on
that eagerness, it is reasonable to assume that they know the
constitutional republic is in its dying throes, if not already dead. And
the poobahs in Congress dating back to the FDR era are responsible for
it by promoting the New Deal which ushered in the poison quill of
dependence that is causing the death of a once great and proud nation.

Proud may be the one word that has had a hand in helping destroy the
republic. Proverbs 16:18 tells us Pride goeth before destruction,
and an haughty spirit before a fall. (Definition:
Haughtiness and pride imply self-confidence which produces carelessness,
and hence a fall -- literally, "sliding.") Certainly we as a
nation of people have been very careless with what we were given.
The men who labored to bring this nation into existence believed in God
and installed his principles into the Constitution to place limits on
government in order to maximize freedom and liberty. Even
those who weren’t believers saw the value in a stable set of principles
and values that harmed no one. Yet, over the years pride in being the
most capable nation on earth began to erode the need for God, being
replaced by a reliance on government programs instead of self reliance
and initiative. As such, in the year 2008 we are experiencing the bitter
fruits of government supplanting God with divisions of all kinds which
can be called simply, “me first” and “what can the government do for
me?”
|
|
Then in Proverbs 16:25 we read, There is a way that seemeth
right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. While
that verse refers to individuals who stray from God, the principle
applies to a nation as well. We are witnessing the death of our nation
through a sliding away from godly principles and it won’t change until
the people turn back to the Constitution and God in daily affairs.

President Bush signed another death warrant on our freedom from
government and the corresponding liberty that goes with a limited
government. The energy bill outlaws incandescent light bulbs and the dim
bulb Democrat Senator Harry Reid of Nevada said that such [a law] was a
"proper
congressional action." There isn’t any constitutional provision for
such action which proves bluntly stated, “Reid is ignorant of the
Constitution and is a stupid fascist fool aided and abetted by President
Bush.” The bill also mandates fuel mileage for cars, diminishing freedom
from government and another unconstitutional invasion on liberty.

An intrusion on liberty reared its ugly head in Colorado when at the
behest of social services, a
judge issued a warrant to seize a ten year old child because the
father wouldn’t allow a paramedic to treat his son. A swat team broke
into the house and took the boy at gun point. The whole sorry affair
came about because the father refused to allow the government to intrude
on his family. That type of intrusion by the heavy hand of government
(social services and police) is becoming more and more common. Of
course, it’s always for the children. Such conduct is in violation of
the Fourth Amendment, but the Constitution is violated in all ways many
more times than it is followed. If it were followed, then the cries to
the government to act in ways it isn’t allowed would fall on deaf ears.
|
|
Sadly, the problem isn’t getting solved since those in power want to
direct our lives for our own good. In Sorting It Out, instead of
demanding that the government bow to every personal whim, we need to Go
Tell Aunt Nanny to take a well deserved long hike off of a short pier
before our constitutional republic is beyond resuscitation.
