Goodness Abounds

There are just so many citizens in this Country that do good deeds out of the goodness of their heart. We really don't give them the credit they deserve. Most are willing to give of their time, goods, or money to worthy causes. I'd like to suggest that we all give to local causes where we know the money will be used wisely and fully to help the local community. Some telemarketers are also working for worthwhile causes but since the donation leaves the local community, one can't be certain how much goes to the cause and what percent is kept for administration costs by those managing the charity. I appreciate all the help done by churches for the less fortunate. They donate food, money for utility bills, clothing, spiritual comfort, and sometimes have even furnished a used car to needy families. I know homemakers clubs make bibs and blankets to be used by the local hospital for new babies who have needs. They also donate canned goods for the food banks and give Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets every year to be distributed to those who might not otherwise have enough to eat. The local service clubs are constantly doing good deeds for the community and give school scholarships to students who cannot afford tuition. The Salvation Army will give room and board for those with no place to go. They also receive donations of used clothing and then organize and sort them to be given to those in need. Neighbors help each other in numerous ways, especially in times of trouble such as sickness, families out of work, windstorms and floods. Citizens donate their own blood for life-giving causes. The good volunteers in one's community keep the costs down for services which otherwise would require paid help to do the same jobs. We even have volunteer firemen who put their lives on the line many times. There are many places to volunteer your services or to help by your donations in each community. Hats off to all these fine people who ask for nothing in return, nor seek notoriety.
