As strange as it may sound when first examined, there is a correlation between guns and energy and both involve liberal thinking and solutions that aren’t solutions, the result of liberal myopia on nearly everything they try to solve, when in fact, they only succeed in making the problem worse. Real solutions are abhorrent to the liberal since they involve logic, reason and common sense honed from viewing the real world instead of a fantasy land. The other problem with liberals is that they think they can perfect society by limiting choices for everyone by enacting laws that will make for uniform obedience to their enactments. They fail to see that government can’t solve the problems and that is where guns and gasoline become linked.

Many liberals hate the Second Amendment to put it mildly. Some don’t, but they are few in number. The thinking is that if there are no guns for anyone then there won’t be any gun crimes and all will be hunky-dory. By eliminating guns ownership for everyone except the government law enforcers, the gun crime free zones will usher in the utopia that they so earnestly desire. If that were true in any amount, laws against drugs and their possession would have eliminated drug addicts many years ago. Laws don’t change behavior to any great degree; laws can only prescribe punishment and that is what liberals are loath to do so they impose their will and take away rights to accomplish their ignoble ends. With their intent to protect everyone, they end up not protecting anyone.

The same thinking about gun ownership spills over into the energy field. A letter to the Voices column of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, 04-22-2008 advocated speed limits and doing away with big vehicles to conserve energy and protect the planet. Instead of seeing the reality of the energy situation, the writer of that letter,  just like many others, wants to limit choices and asks the government to impose  laws to control behavior. The real solution isn’t limits on the things liberals despise, but the exploring for and the use of the natural resources God has put on this planet. That brings up another problem for the liberal mind. If God is recognized as the creator and ruler of the world, that recognition ends the liberal’s quest to be all things to all people through government power.

Though the liberals will deny the link between guns and gasoline, the consequences caused by limiting the two are the same. The consequence is death. Those who aren’t allowed to carry firearms slaughtered by those who have no regard for the laws the liberals believe will solve the problem of gun deaths.

By the same illogic, the refusal to produce crude oil and the quest for alternative energy is now creating starvation in many areas of the world. Ethanol production is driving the cost of food and other items to the extreme because grain is now going into fuel instead of feeding the people of the world. The drive for alternative energy is being done to save the planet all the while killing the people through starvation in the process.

Whereas the denial of gun ownership and the right to carry only causes death for the innocent, and rarely for the assailant until many deaths occur, the insane quest for alternative fuels is causing misery for everyone, including death, beginning with high gasoline prices due to the liberals not allowing the tapping of our resources, which are there in abundance for the taking. Both are being caused by liberal solutions.

Now you should be able to understand the linking of guns and gasoline. Instead of allowing each who desires to provide for his or her own safety, and allowing for the production of natural energy resources that will unburden the food supply and lower costs for both food and energy, the liberal mind only limits the choices, which in the end, result in the unintended consequence of such thinking called death.
