The writer of a letter, November 28, 2007, to Voices is very confused
about our nation’s system of government and the role that religion
played in the forming of the nation. He wrote, “The Christian far right
has made itself the power that threatens the separation of church and
state and democracy as we have come to know it.” Three items won’t bear
factual examination.
|
|
First, a Christian when compared to the modernism of the liberal left is
far right, and the principles of God will always be in the right
position (no pun intended), physically, spiritually and morally, when compared to the
world. Secondly, the only separation of church and state is found in the
First Amendment, and it is a simple statement forbidding Congress from
sticking its nose into religion, not religion from guiding government in
proper conduct. Thirdly, we have a republic, not a democracy. Sadly, few
know the difference and rely on the false notion that has become popular
over the years or as the writer wrote, “… democracy as we have come to
know it.”

|
He thinks that by following God’s principles in government, it makes
those who aren’t associated with the Christian religion less free. He
thinks they exercise excessive power, but if he would open his eyes, he
would see that those who believe in God are being castigated,
persecuted, and debased by the ungodly. Who is now less free in a nation
that was once dedicated to freedom and liberty?

|
The idiotic statement that the Bible was written by men who knew little
of the world and wrote that they attributed to God acts that are
contrary to his absolute unchangeable laws of nature, shows that he
knows little about God and needs to study the scriptures before popping
off. God himself changed his laws of nature several times over the
course of biblical history as found in the Old Testament. He made light
of the fact the men talked to God. All who believe in God talk to him or
should. The writer ought to try it.
|
|
|
He said he believes in God, an eye-opening statement, given his stated
beliefs. He then wrote that man was a co-creator with God. Pray tell,
what has man ever created but chaos and confusion, not counting
inventions using God given talents and abilities? He is right when he
says we can use free will to build or destroy civilization. There is no
doubt that at this moment the ungodly are bent on destroying
civilization.
|
|
|
His last notion is as foolish as the foregoing ones. He said God doesn’t
delve into politics since politics has to do with physical condition of
the civilization. The man needs to read Romans Chapter 13 as well as the
words of Jesus in John10:10: The thief cometh
not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they
might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. At the moment, our political system has become the thief,
which is destroying our liberty
by killing the freedom we formerly enjoyed by being free from government
intrusion in all aspects of life. To say that God has nothing to do with
physical parts of life is the same as saying that his way is immaterial
to a sound, safe, and sane world, which isn’t very safe, sound, or sane
in the year 2008.

It is becoming more and more apparent that the people of this nation
care little about God, and even less about his instruction book, the
Bible. If they did, they wouldn’t exhibit the ignorance shown to all as
found in
the letter from the man in Little Rock, Arkansas. He would do well to
understand the words of Jesus in John 8:32:
And
ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
A
sincere study of God’s word will set him free from the false ideas he so
willingly displayed.
