HEART OF THE MATTER |
|
When the children of Israel were in Egypt they were in bondage to tyrants. The Pharaoh didn’t believe in our creator God and worshipped other gods and materialism. They had no time for the truth and continued their wicked ways. But God had a plan to deal with them and the Pharaohs were no match for God. God told Moses and Aaron to go to the Pharaoh and speak to him. Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land. 3 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. (Exodus7:2-3) How did God harden Pharaoh’s heart? The truth which was spoken made his heart become hard against God. Truth will either cause a change of heart or it will harden even more those who are turned away from God. It is apparent that many people have their hearts turned from God. The protests which have come due to Phil Robertson’s speaking the truth about sin are the proof that God’s truth is not welcome among the more self enlightened intelligentsia. That fact is very plain for those who know how the truth plainly spoken works. The Duck Commander used words that are perfectly acceptable to describe body parts and behavior. He used them in such a way that the truth he spoke regarding homosexual behavior cannot be defended. He addressed perfectly the nature of the behavior and the minds of those who practice it. God uses his servants to preach the message of Christ and we never know, who, how or where God will choose to deliver the message. An attempt is made to make homosexual marriage acceptable by calling it love. That is a futile since love is never equated with sinful conduct since love comes from God and is to be practiced as God teaches. Love does no harm to anyone and those who believe homosexual conduct of any kind is an expression of love need to explain it. They can’t and all they will do is tell more lies. Why? They refuse to believe they are in bondage to sin. But Phil didn’t just speak to homosexual sin. He spoke to sin of all kinds and that is being overlooked by the deviants in society. A defender of deviancy, GLAAD spokesperson, Wilson Cruz, said that his views are not Christian. That brings up a point that will be discussed in another paragraph. The spokesman does not understand the Bible message and the statement proves it. It is utterly amazing that those who will not follow Jesus want to tell his followers how they should speak and behave. Yet, there is no defense offered to counter the truth that brother Robertson spoke. (Note that I wrote brother. He is my brother in Christ and I believe exactly as he believes. I am a member of the group of churches known as the churches of Christ. Roman’s 16:16. We do not shy from speaking the truth.) In truth, my brother did what is written by David in Psalms 63:1-10, particularly verse 11 But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. The mouths of them who continue to justify homosexual behavior cannot do so because their mouths have been stopped by truth spoken in such a way that they cannot refute it.. They speak lies that such behavior is not chosen and thus must be acceptable and normal. There is another fact that is very apparent and it pertains to what hasn’t happened. So far as can be determined by this writer, not one preacher or member of a denomination has uttered one word to defend brother Robertson. Everyone who calls themselves a “Christian” should be speaking out in support of him. The truth is that many so called churches are lead by those who welcome homosexuals who will not change their behavior, and many have homosexual leaders. Has the truth stopped their mouths too? Now, let’s go back to the statement of the GLAAD spokesman. If “Christianity” is used in such a way that it speaks to the whole truth of belief in Christ and his message without changing it in any manner, then the spokesman’s statement is false because the truth of the Christ’s message was spoken. But if the word “Christian” is used to mean anyone who calls themselves a Christian or to identify any church that says it is Christian, but believing and practicing things contrary to God’s word, then Phil’s statement was false. But the world’s definition cannot be used to define truth and Phil certainly cut across the modern thinking of what it means to be a “Christian.” Paul wrote in I Corinthians 2:12-16 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. The principles in those verses apply to the present situation. Those who decry the truth spoken are spiritually discerned and the ungodly and biblically unlearned are trying to judge brother Phil. Is it any wonder that the unsaved sinners are reacting in such a manner to the truth? It is no different than when the Jews reacted to Paul in Acts 22:22-23 when he told them about meeting Jesus. And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live. 23 And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air, … Brother Phil irritated the ungodly with the truth of sin and they have reacted. Phil called out sin and that is the heart of the matter which has upset a lot of people. Solomon said, “There is nothing new under the sun.” © 12-23-2013 DEC |
