Heaven’s Estates

Though many years I’ve toiled on earth, never a house could I afford,

I always rented or stayed with friends, even homeless was my reward.

But that will change, when I pass away, won’t be no cardboard box,

It will be in Heaven’s Estates, I won’t need no dead bolt locks.

The address will be 1 Heaven Way, a place of kingly dimension,

It won’t be no shotgun house with neighbors of ill intention.

It won’t have no clapboard sides with holes in it everywhere,

For water to come through when it rains and cause me such despair.

The house will have one color of paint, brighter than the sun,

No chipin’, no peelin’ or faded spots, no touch up to be done.

I can see it now, the grass cut and all the sidewalks gleam,

No broomin’ or a pickin’ up, ‘cause it’s already clean.

With the hedges trimmed and the leaves all bagged, won’t have no garden tools,

Just might sleep the day away, next to my own pool.

1 Heaven Way is all paved with shining bricks of gold,

But there’s one thing about that street that I have not told.

The mortar that holds the bricks in place is made with Jesus’ blood,

‘Cause when they pierced Him on the cross, it came in such a flood.

He bled so much when the street was done, the rest covered all our sin,

But the one thing I forgot to tell you folks  is about the gate that lets you in.

The only lock on the pearly gates has an easy combination,

To unlock the lock and open the gate you must have Christ’s salvation.

Now you might think that you won’t need streets  that are all paved in gold,

But the last thing that I must do is get the rest of this story told.

A great big house in Beverly Hills or even on Cape Cod,

Won’t bring your status to the point that you can move in next to God.

Accept Him now, there is no cost for a home that’s on that street,

Jesus is Lord, make Him yours too, and in Heaven we will meet.

When we meet on 1 Heaven way; I will introduce to you,

Our next door neighbor, Lord Jesus Christ and the God we love so true.

The moving vans here and I’m ready to go, I had no price to pay,

All I did was accept Jesus Christ, Praise God it’s moving day.
