The Voices column has had a spate of letters deifying Hillary. Those who write think she is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Given a choice, un-sliced bread is far preferable to Hillary Clinton. The letters all contain the same rot and since they are so similar, all of them will be answered in this counter-point article.

A common theme of the writers in all the letters is that they want government to supply them with life’s needs. These adults need to grow up and fend for themselves. They are no better than the adult children who run to their parents for money to buy things they want, but can’t afford. It’s even worse when adults expect the government to give them goodies. In either scenario, the common denominator is that they expect someone else to pay their way in life. In the case of those clamoring for government help, they think that the so-called rich should pay more taxes to provide for the needs they haven’t provided for themselves.

Another theme is the idea that government should slap ceilings on profits of the oil companies and other corporations or take the profits and invest them in alternative energy. Do they not understand that business  profits are the natural result of doing business and without them, businesses would go bankrupt? Do they not understand that many retirement accounts are dependent on the profits of the companies making those profits? Do they not understand profits are property that is protected by the  Fourth Amendment and the action Hillary wants to take is grossly unconstitutional? Apparently not, since the understanding of the Constitution is nil amongst the jealous and greedy crowd.

Demand for government  provided health care is yet another common theme. Do they really want a faceless, nameless bureaucracy determining their health needs and coverage? Of course they do, because the “rich” will be paying for the coverage. One writer to a forum in Indiana wrote that he didn't see anything wrong with that. Marxist thinking is alive and well everywhere, not just in Arkansas.

They complain about the lack of coverage and other issues connected with insurance. Ironically, the people are demanding that the government (politicians and bureaucrats) which has caused the problems, now solve the problems. That is tantamount to requiring the bank burglar who disabled the alarm to fix the alarm. The greed of the writers has destroyed whatever common sense they may have held regarding these matters.

All of them think that Hillary will set the nation on the right path to change the direction of the nation. The old path of socialistic control will remain but the speed with which freedom and liberty perish will increase. As regards health insurance, she is on record as saying that she will garnish the wages of those who won’t comply with the order to buy insurance. Do people really want that type of heavy-handed government? It appears that they do since Democrat Party allegiance is greater than common sense and independence.

Business is always the big ghoul that is lurking about in order to take from the oppressed that are victims of the free market system. Yet, the people who write the “We are for Hillary” letters obtain their daily existence from the free market system, obtained from government handouts, work or both. In their abject ignorance, (stupidity applies too),  they are blindly eager to bite off the hand that feeds them. Greed, jealously, and avarice does strange things to the thinking of certain people, namely politicians and the government created dependent.

Jesus spoke a parable in Luke 6:39, which has a principle that can be applied in the matter under discussion. He said, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?  Those being lead are blind to the consequences that are going to happen as the nation goes farther down the socialist road. Those leading are blind as well since they refuse to see that their way leads to utter destruction, morally, ethically, and spiritually.

When government supplants God and people refuse to exercise independence, then all of us will be lead to destruction by Hillary and her ilk. The ditch of enslavement is looming and it is nearer than you might think.
