HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE

The Book of Genesis seems to infuriate more than a few people. It says that God created man and woman and that the two became one. In that book is found the standard for marriage, a man and a woman whether the dissenters like it or not. Since homosexuals and their supporters don’t, they attempt to justify their conduct by offering illogical arguments that sound good but are profoundly foolish when opened for inspection.

One argument that the pro homosexual marriage crowd uses is that Jesus never said anything about homosexuality. That is true but to use that as proof that Jesus accepted it exhibits a gross misunderstanding of the scriptural teachings on sin. The Old Testament contains the laws and directions that God gave to the Israelites or Jews. The Old Testament doesn’t apply to the Gentiles since they weren’t under the law. Only the principles contained in the law apply but that doesn’t excuse homosexuality as will be seen.

In Leviticus 20:13 we find that “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. This verse makes it plain that anyone who commits a homosexual act shall be put to death. It isn’t maybe but shall, a certainty of the law given to the Jews.

Through false teachings it is believed that Jesus spoke to Gentiles when he walked the earth. He came and spoke to the Jews and Samaritans since they were of Hebrew stock. He spoke to the Hebrew people, including the Sadducees and Pharisees, on the right treatment of others and the law. He castigated the Pharisees for binding things they didn’t keep and for misapplication of the law and false teachings contrary to what God gave Moses. Given that homosexual conduct was forbidden to the Jews, it isn’t surprising that Jesus didn’t mention it since he didn’t speak to other violations of the Jewish law either. The other point is that there is no evidence that the Pharisees were teaching that homosexual conduct was legitimate so Jesus had no reason to address the issue. If he did it was in private since John said that he did many other things that aren’t recorded, John 21:25.

The proponents of homosexual marriage point to divorce and try to use it as an argument for allowing homosexual marriage. The argument isn’t valid by any stretch of logic. God instituted proper relations between men and woman which is called marriage. Divorce is an outgrowth of the union and God gave the Jews very specific instructions on the law’s requirements concerning divorce. Paul spoke on divorce in I Corinthians to Jew and Gentile alike, but the emphasis in the New Testament is on right conduct in the marriage union and not divorce. Just because men and women aren’t faithful or because they abuse marriage and obtain a divorce, neither makes grounds for the justification of the argument for homosexual marriage. Abuse of something that God has ordained doesn’t make sinful conduct in another area right. It is worth noting that divorce isn’t spoken of as sin in scripture. The sin is the sinful conduct of any type that would bring it about.

The last point is the argument about the words “abusers of themselves with mankind” written in I Corinthians 6:9 (The same Greek word form is used in Romans 1:27 and 1Timothy 1:10. In Romans 1:26 he spoke of women acting unnaturally with women.)  It is argued that the words don’t mean homosexual behavior. Since Paul used the words for fornication, adultery, and effeminate, and given the fact that Corinth was full of homosexuals, it is ludicrous to think that he didn’t address homosexual conduct. The words he uses are translations of two Greek words arsna, male, and koita, bed. The Greek word from in Corinthians 6:9 means a male homosexual, pederast, and sodomite. Since he addressed fornication and adultery as previously stated, the meaning should be obvious even though one might not be knowledgeable in the Greek language, and it should be obvious as well to those who are trying to justify homosexual conduct and marriage.

In the sum, Paul most assuredly addressed male with male and then female with female conduct since he included it in Romans. In both places he said it was wrong. Paul also said, “For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret” (means as a daily course of conversation) Eph 5:12. We are cautioned about speaking of such, yet when the gospel is preached, the enlightened say it is hate speech to speak of the sinful acts of the homosexuals.

The proponents of homosexual marriage can argue all they want. It is wrong, it is sinful, and it always will be wrong and sinful no matter what they or the courts or the law may say.
