During the carnival days of the 1800s through the 30s, carnival
hucksters from city to city, selling remedies for all the
ailments that humans could encounter and even some that didn’t
exist. People were eager to hear the pitches and more than a few
were suckered in by the promises that the charlatans made to
their audience. Once all the people that could be fleeced were
fleeced, the charlatans rode out of town with a purse full of
money.
Even thought the numbers on the calendar are different, the old
adage that “the more things change the more they remain the
same” is true in this day and age. The only difference is the
identity of the huckster, the brand of snake oil, and who will
collect the money. By now, you the reader, should be able to
identify the huckster, Barack Hussein Obama; the snake oil, all
the unconstitutional government programs to cure the ills of the
nation; and the collector, the mighty federal nanny state. (In
the URL, (http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=34895)
you can view all the snake oil schemes that Mr. Huckster
Obama is going to try to sell to the nation.)
As usual, there will be those who will gladly fork over their
cash for his nostrums and others will resist to no avail since
the law will deal with the dissidents as it does now when people
drag their feet in opposition to the feds. If anyone thinks it
isn’t happening to many citizens now, then the lights are off in
the cave of denial. People are being jailed, loosing their
homes, land and other possessions to a runaway government
exerting unlimited power at all levels.
After you have read the list of activities he proposes, note how
many are unconstitutional. For example, he is going to
Weatherize one million homes annually; Mandate all new
vehicles are flexible fuel vehicles and Raise the minimum
wage. Those are just three of the many items he says he will
do. Note that none of them is listed in Article I, Section 8,
the powers of the Congress. The Huckster will have to take two
courses of action to set his snake oil nightmare in motion. He
will have to convince Congress to pass the legislation or he
will have to step outside his authority with the use of
Executive Orders to force compliance. We have already
experienced the unconstitutional use of such orders in
wilderness set asides during Bill Clinton’s terms.
There will always be those who think that snake oil salesmen can
fulfill the desires for a better life and cure the ills. Whereas
a two-bit hustler could only affect one town at a time, and who
could only dupe those who bit on the pitch expecting to receive
miracles, a man such as Obama can and will create havoc for the
nation, including those who think he is the Grand Wizard with
cure all powers for all things and for everyone.
Should the man be elected, and if he gets just a small number of
his oily proposals passed into law, the nation will be a few
more steps along the road to a totalitarian government. Several
steps along that road have already taken place when, to name a
few, the mandates for fuel, vehicle mileage, light bulbs, flush
toilets, land use, the environment and building restrictions are
considered. Do we really want more of the snake oil that
Washington will try to push off on us?
At one time, this was a nation free of government interference
except for those laws necessary to keep society stable. Every
person had the liberty to conduct life in the way best suited
for each of them. That is no longer true. Government has entered
into life in ways unimaginable 50 years ago, or even 40 years
ago. The people have allowed snake oil salesmen to sell them on
an all powerful government; making them pay for nostrums that
don’t work and never will. It is a fact that we don’t need
Huckster Obama and his government snake oil. In Sorting It Out,
what he continues to offer is no better than the pitchmen of
old.
