As uncalled for as the statement made by Don Imus could be, it shouldn’t
have been a surprise to anyone who knows about and has heard his foul
mouth. Don Imus is a product of himself and an immoral society that has
allowed him to flourish under the guise of freedom of speech. The
freedom to speak protected by the Constitution has a foundation of
morality on which it rests. When the moral issue is forgotten then we
are subjected to the foul mouth of people like Imus. The fact is he
shouldn’t have been allowed on any show and since he was, the heads of
the networks are as guilty as he is because they let him continue until
he gagged on his own words. He should have been fired years ago after a
first warning which apparently never was issued.

Let’s not forget the immoral quotient. Jesus told the Pharisees that
eating with unwashed hands wouldn’t defile anyone because they were
putting all the emphasis on the exterior with no thought to the inner
man. We see the same thing in the entertainment world today; and that
brings us to the immoral quotient, the heart of the issue at hand. He
said, 11 Not that which goeth into the
mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this
defileth a man. 12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest
thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? 13
But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not
planted, shall be rooted up. 14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders
of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the
ditch. 15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this
parable. 16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? 17 Do
not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth
into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? 18 But those things
which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they
defile the man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders,
adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: 20 These
are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands
defileth not a man. (Matthew
15:11-20) Imus fits the verses perfectly and his bosses let it
happen. When leaders ignore morals, immorality flourishes. Paul told
Timothy:
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and
being deceived. (2 Timothy 3:13) The situation became as Paul
wrote and it is plain that Imus and his bosses were seduced and deceived
by immorality.

Jude made a comparison to the sin of his day with Sodom and Gomorrha
when he wrote: 7 Even as Sodom and
Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves
over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an
example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. 8 Likewise also these
filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of
dignities. (Jude 1:7-8) Can anyone say that Imus wasn’t
speaking evil during the times he was on the air over the years? Eventually,
all who behave in ways that are opposite of God will pay a price for
their behavior. Imus is paying the price for his conduct and sadly there
are others who won’t learn from his situation.

The Lord has judged all through Jesus Christ and when that day of
reckoning arrives, God will deal with the ungodly. Verses in the Book of
Hebrews tell Christians the following: 30 For we know him that
hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the
Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31 It is a fearful
thing to fall into the hands of the living God. (Hebrews 10:30-31)
Don Imus and his types of the world need to heed the words found in
the Bible. It goes without saying, that had the man been following the
truth of God and practicing decent talk, he wouldn’t have the problems
he is facing at present. Sin is the problem and nothing else. When
one is practicing sin, God isn't present.

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of God and unless he and
others change their ways, the problems they now face are but specks
compared to what God has planned for the ungodly, the immoral who are
practicing and spreading immorality.
