The hue and cry and drumbeat by the media, politicians, and the citizens
who believe every word the aforementioned two groups utter, is designed
to convince all that will listen that Iraq was the Viet Nam of President
George W. Bush. Their hatred of the man is so great they can’t see the
truth when it is about to smack them in the nose, which it will if they
don’t wake up and see the danger we face as a nation. The nay-saying
crowd couldn’t be more wrong about Iraq and Viet Nam. Yet, there is one
fact about which they are right; Viet Nam posed no threat to the
physical United States for several reasons. That’s not true with Iraq
and unfortunately there is one valid way that the two are the same.

|
Given that Hanoi had no means to deliver long range armament, there
wasn’t any immediate physical danger to the continent. Two, Russia and
China helped serve as deterrents to Ho Chi Minh, knowing full well that
if he tried a direct attack on the United States they too would feel the
effects of our wrath in retaliation. In one sense of the word, they had
enough sense to keep their monster on a short leash by limiting the type
weapons they supplied.

That war was winnable and could have been if the squeamish had gotten
out of the way and if Communist sympathizers had been told to shut up,
but we didn’t have any leaders with the backbone to do it. You have just
read how Iraq is like Viet Nam. The squeamish politicians, the
politicians who hated Bush and the sympathizers of each (better known as
useful idiots) are making the war difficult to win just as that same
group made victory in Viet Nam impossible.
|
|
There is a vast difference between the Nam era and now. Then we were
engaged with an identifiable country and an enemy whose face we
recognized: meaning that the enemy wore uniforms and for the most part,
we knew where they lived and methods they used against us. While they
wanted to see our demise, the Communists were content to take a section
at a time, even if it meant years upon years of battle to achieve their
goal. That isn’t true with our problem today.
|
|
An implacable enemy, unlike the Communist inspired forces of Viet Nam,
lives amongst us. In one respect they are like termites that do their
work unseen, but unlike termites, they are visible and go about daily
business like the rest of us. To make matters worse, politicians pander
to them and curry favor by refusing to take measures that will
effectively limit and even stop their activities to bring about this
nation’s demise. It is political correctness of the worst kind based on
the ideas we must not offend anyone because they may grow to hate us.
The fact that they killed 3,000 on September 11, 2001 should be proof
enough they hate us without conjuring up excuses for their hate.
|
|
The fools amongst us, including the wild eyed and not so wild eyed Muslims,
claim that Iraq is only fueling hatred toward us. What caused the hatred
before Iraq? The answer is simple for those who will listen. The United
States represents freedom and liberty and fights against oppression.
Does anyone honestly believe that if we stop protecting ourselves and
apologize for the perceived misdeed of believing in freedom, that the
enemy would go away? Does that sound familiar when the ghost of Viet Nam
is recalled? The same ones, new ones, and the historically ignorant, are
advocating such as a way to deal with terrorists who the apologizers say
have legitimate grievances. The terrorists have a grievance to the same
degree that serial killers have a grievance about being locked on death
row 23 hours per day. They both are the cause of their own trouble.
|
|
As a nation of people we are in mortal danger from an enemy that is
using our laws against us to achieve their goal. The useful idiots
called politicians and those who protest the efforts made to protect us
(liberal Democrats, their followers, and the ACLU to name three), are
aiding and abetting our demise. And oh yes, there is ever present and
willing media who never miss an opportunity to fan the flames against
us.
|
|
In Sorting It Out, the people who know the danger must be steadfast and
resolute in defending our country. To do otherwise puts us in a
continued mortal danger from which we can’t recover.
