JANUARY

This is something you must hear,
January means:  The Door To The Year.
And the first of the month you will say:
"Best wishes and a Happy  New Year Day."

Here is the very first dateline,
The first American president election, 1789.
What makes this interesting and timely,
George Washington's Union Address was in 1790.

And here is where all the excitement begun,
The first great oil discovery in Texas was 1901.
To make this smooth and without tricks,
The first UN Assembly met  in London, 1946.

If you haven't heard this news before,
Nautilus (SSN-571), first atomic submarine, 1954.
Elizabeth Blackwell, graduated in her time,
From Geneva Medical School, N.Y. in 1849.

Then we became a big Gold Rush State,
Gold was discovered in California by 1848.
Just add to this, which makes it nifty,
India celebrated Republic Day in 1950.

If you haven't heard of this before,
Canadian Great Western Railway opened, 1854.
Remember the month  if you become honorary:

JANUARY
