Jesus' Eyes – Jennifer’s Poem |
|
Even though I cannot see my world is always bright, Because I see through Jesus’ eyes with His holy light. I was born without the gift of sight, but its okay you see, ‘Cause the only things I know are things He describes to me.
What He describes is that great love and how death gave us our life, A love that’s more than seeing things and heals us from our strife. On this earth the things I see aren’t like you I’m sure, I can only see through Jesus eyes with a hope that does endure.
When I was a child I could not play like all the friends I had, They could run and ride their bikes and made me feel real bad. I could not do the things they did because I could not see, But now I know the Lord above had something just for me.
I’ve never had the joy of seeing a bright and cloudless day, The only thing I’ve ever seen are different shades of gray. I’ll never see a red sunrise or a beautiful sunset, I’ll never see a harvest moon, but I don’t have no regrets.
All I see are different shades if that makes sense to you, Sometimes dim, sometimes so bright all there is for me to view. When it’s dim it is because I’m not turned into His light, When it’s the brightest it is God’s Son when in Him I do delight.
Another time when it is so dark, worse than the deepest well, It is because my back’s to Him and I’m seeing the pits of hell. That is the time I’m scared the most and I have my darkest day, But the day again becomes oh so bright when I turn to Him and pray.
The things I see are by sound and touch even my nose I use, But when I don’t look through Jesus eyes, I get horribly confused. Just like you when it’s dark outside my world’s no different then, We need a light to see our path, on God we must depend.
I’ve never seen the sunrise or a beautiful sunset, I’ve never seen a rose so red, but there’s one thing I will bet. I’ll never see the look of love after a first embrace, I’ll never gaze into my true loves eyes or see a loved ones face.
I’ll never see a photograph, a new born baby I’ll never see, But that’s okay I can wait a while, ‘cause through Jesus eyes I see. I’ve seen the world through Jesus eyes with love for everyone, I’ve seen a love that knows no bounds through God’s only Son.
I do not even know the pain, of watching a loved one die, Sometimes I’m glad I cannot see your hurt and tearful eyes. But I know the thing that helps me through, I’m sure you will agree, That I’m the one that’s blessed the most, ‘cause through Jesus eyes I see.
With the things I’ve just described to you, do you think that I’ve missed out? Please don’t feel too bad for me, ‘cause I see what my life’s about. It’s about the way I see my life and how my Savior is to me, I see a world where grace abounds because through Jesus eyes I see. © 02-05-2005 JEC |
