JUDGMENT DAY

When you woke up this morning it was judgment day,

And God said right then and there get up and come this way.

Please stand here, it won’t be long, just outside this gate,

Wait right there, I’ll get back to you with your eternal fate.

When you stand outside the gates will you tell those that you meet?

About our dear Lord’s sacrifice or that you’re hungry and want to eat.

Will you complain about the lines and standing in the sun?

Or will you praise Lord Jesus, thanking Him for what He’s done.

When you’re standing there with all those folks, will you talk about your deeds?

Or will you be waiting in humble thought and waiting for God to lead.

Will you be lead straight through those gates knowing you do not lack?

Or will you be told about the door that’s locked around the back.

If it’s a bright and sunny day, will you give up your shady place?

To a frail old couple who’s standing there with sweat upon their face.

Or will you be complaining that you want right in,

Not thinking about our Lord our Christ and all your worldly sin.

Will you share a little drink with a child that day?

Or will you stand there in self-righteous thought, selfish in every way.

Will you be looking at your watch, not reflecting on things you’ve done?

Not thanking God for saving you or His only Son.

If you are waiting there without the Lord I’ll pray for you,

‘Cause when the gates swing open wide you’ll have no place it’s true.

You had your chance upon the earth, but you always had your way,

You were always busy talking never hearing what God would say.

Jesus Christ hung in the sun, sweating blood through every pore,

Just like the folks back at the gate, Him you did ignore.

And what about the little child that asked you for a drink,

You wanted it all just for just yourself, don’t that make you think?

Did the things you did on earth back then exalt our Lord each day?

Or did you do things just for you never once to Him you’d pray?

When you’re asked by God Himself, do I know you friend?

Will you say that it’s about time, or I loved Jesus to the end?

Here at last you’re first in line, but what’s God going to say,

“Welcome to heaven my dear dear child, I’ll show you the way.”

Or will he say, “Go away from here, my Son you never knew,

Depart from me, I know you not, to Hell I’m sending you.”
