Just the Way He Made Me

In dirty jeans and an old T-shirt  I walked into the service,

Finally happy, no longer sad, finally accepting my purpose.

I finally gave in to the Lord I’d met so many years ago,

I’d given up at a dead end road with no place to go.

I met a man and his dear sweet wife, they were spirit filled you see,

I was glad the Lord had led me there, they even looked like me.

I’m not sayin’ we were dressed alike, she was wearin’ a dress,

But they had that look of a hard driven life; I guess you know the rest.

I sat with them a few rows back from a pulpit of leaded glass,

Then preacher John began to pray, I knew I found peace at last.

Then the sermon he preached spoke straight to me, the way no message had,

As he went on it occurred to me, I’d made my Lord so sad.

No where could I ever fit in, I had trouble getting’ along with folks,

They’d tease me and say hurtful things; I was the butt off all their jokes.

But as I grew up I just withdrew and stayed inside my shell,

To separate me from the horrible things on earth that was my hell.

I was saved when I was ten years old, but I didn’t have a clue,

About my service to God above or what I was supposed to do.

As I grew up I began to hear about the Christian walk,

But I was a little different you see and at my Lord I’d sometimes balk.

Throughout my life I’d wax and wane in service to our Lord,

But deep down inside I always knew, one day He’d strike a chord.

In church that day I heard that tone from God so pure and true,

That sweet sweet chord my Savior played in my heart I always knew.

At the ripe old age of 45 I finally heard God say,

Welcome home my boy, I’m glad you’re here; it’s time you walk my way.

It was then and there I finally knew what God had really meant,

He said here’s my Son, Lord Jesus Christ, salvations why He’s sent.

I know you’ve hurt and searched for years, sometimes without my touch,

That’s over now, you’re in My care, I love you oh so much.

Now it’s time to show to you what I have in store,

Your mission, your calling, your life long dream, you can’t imagine more.

But first one thing I have to say I love you the way you are,

That’s because that I made you, to Me you are a star.

Your jeans, T-shirts, your bike and boots, I am going to use,

To deliver the gospel of Jesus Christ and ask the lost to choose.

You’ll deliver His gospel with words so true, no man can ever doubt,

About the love He has for them and what salvations about.

Salvations about the hell hot fire that burns for eternity,

And that Jesus Christ died for their sins, this they’ll plainly see.

You are my holy messenger on an earth that’s truly lost,

I’m so proud of you my dear dear boy, I’m glad you counted the cost.

I’ll give you all you’ll ever need to work for me each day,

But hang on son the blessings are coming, more than I care to say.

I’ll show you the love that you’ve shown me and peace I’ll give to you,

And all the things of the world you’ll need to tell of My word so true.

That day in church I finally found what God would have me do,

It’s nothing more than loving Jesus Christ and preaching His gospel true.
