If the liberal Democrats in Congress or anywhere else understood logic,
the world would come to an end. Not to worry, they don’t and won’t even
though they will have to be dragged kicking and screaming to accept what
they don’t understand. The lack of logic pertains to domestic oil
production. The leader of the pack of illogical thinking is Senator
Harry Reid, (D-Nevada) who said concerning John McCain’s call for
drilling offshore that [it is]
"nothing more than a cynical campaign ploy that will do nothing to lower
energy prices and represents another big giveaway to oil companies
already making billions in profits." (It’s always a campaign ploy or
politics when the Democrats aren’t doing it.) There is one of the brains
of the liberal Democrat Party showing his absolute ignorance to the
world—no, it is stupidity that will keep us locked into buying imported
oil to meet our energy needs. The liberals preach alternative fuels and
conservation to end the problem. Be sure to wear shorts in the summer
and a sweater in the winter.

|
The path to where we are now began with President Nixon’s price
controls, which prevented many companies from making a profit. Then
Jimmy Carter’s “windfall profits” tax ended any incentive for small
producers to continue and their wells were capped. The peanut brained
man couldn’t understand that companies that sell a huge volume of
products make large profits. But in Carter’s mind and that of his fellow
ilk, known as liberal Democrats, the oil companies were ripping off
their customers when in fact it was Carter and his cronies ripping off
the taxpayers by taxing the oil companies into near oblivion. The
first President Bush issued a new directive on drilling that Clinton
extended. Now we have the mantra of “we can’t drill because it won’t
do any good. It won’t solve the problem.” Hogwash!

|
Now let’s apply liberal Democrat logic. There is a dire need for crude
oil and we can’t produce more because that isn’t the solution to
alleviate the high prices. Due to weather and the energy bill, mandating
that food grain be used to produce ethanol, grocery prices are
escalating. When the crop land recovers from the flood destruction, the
natural impulse will be to plant more crops. But now that is not
logical. Using Harry Reid’s logic, planting more crops won’t solve the
problem. We will need to find alternatives to the food crops and
conserve. Just don’t eat as much and find other things to eat. Well, it
can’t be meat since grain crops feed animals and raising and feeding
more animals won’t solve anything. And methane from animals contributes
to global warming too.

|
Maybe vegetables are the answer. They won’t be made into ethanol and the
animals won’t eat them unless it is the ever increasing deer herds
roaming the landscape. But wait, more vegetable can’t be the answer
because there isn’t enough energy for the tractors needed to plant the
vegetables and besides the land is needed for crops from which ethanol
is made. Obviously, the solution to the tractor problem is mules. They
can be fed oats, corn and hay, if there is any available after the
ethanol has consumed the crops. But keep in mind the methane emissions.
|
|
There is only one solution left using Reid’s logic, starvation. Now
there is the solution. That way you won’t have a need for shorts or a
sweater very long. Just think of the energy that will be saved when all
the non-eaters are no longer viable, not to mention that all the energy
being saved by not having to produce shorts and sweaters. Right, but
those garment producers overseas are going to be mad because their
factories will be idled. So much for diplomacy and let’s get along.
|
|
By now, you should be able to see that Reid’s logic is as foolish as
what you just read. The real solutions are to drill for oil and develop
alternatives that will work in select applications as the market adjusts
to economic conditions that will allow such progress. There is one more
solution. Send Reid and his fellow liberal Democrats packing for the
good of the nation. The real problem is the lack of brains in Congress
and Harry Reid is the leader of the brainless contingent. In Sorting It
Out, that is just plain old common sense logic.
