Luck and Saving Grace

I didn’t know the difference between luck and saving grace,

I never knew Lord Jesus or saw his shining face.

I always thought I knew the deal; I had the Midas touch,

That he died for me I never knew, or loved me oh so much.

I never lost, I always won, I always had ace high,

I did not know his sacrifice, or really why He died.

The money in my pocket was always from big wins,

I was ignorant about the one true fact, that His blood covered my sins.

I thought that faith in Jesus was just a cripples’ crutch,

How wrong I was I did not know, ‘cause He loved me oh so much.

I had the chances like everyone else to hear the call they say,

But with one more deal or roll of the dice, I’d wait just one more day.

When I got much older, and all my money lost,

Nearly blind and almost dead, I began to count the cost.

Money and luck from the world I’d owned, but never never had,

Saving grace from our Lord above and that was very sad.

I began to cough my eyes grew dim, I knew I was fading fast.

My last conscience thought was save me Lord, I’m sorry for my past.

Dear Lord Jesus, please save my life, I said with my last short breath,

But little did I know right then, I was close to eternal death.

I did not know if he heard me, but I drew a royal flush,

He welcomed me to heaven, ‘cause he loved me oh so much.

Your not saved by rolling the dice or even drawing an ace,

It’s simply done by Jesus’ love and his amazing grace.
