Add mental blindness to leftist ideology and you will find Gene Lyons, a contributor to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, to the right of the equal sign. His opinion piece of 09-17-2009 is illustrative of his mind set. In the article he blames George W. Bush for all the ills the economy is experiencing at the present time. His leftist blindness to the truth won’t allow him to see the real problem.

Lyons mentioned that the supporters of the man in the White House blame his opponents for racist behavior. While the blame game is the refuge of the scoundrel, that isn’t the problem except for those who don’t want anyone to challenge their “god” sitting on the leftist throne. They too miss the real problem just like Lyons misses it.

As with so many of the nut job’s supporters they can’t see that he is lying through his teeth about his intent for this nation. Lyon’s refuses to see it and blames all the opposition on “Teabaggers” who refuse to see the truth. That is especially laughable coming from the man who wants everyone to believe he is a champion for truth. He thinks Joe Wilson was wrong when he uttered the words “You lie” during the nut job’s speech. Reports from various departments of the government verify that the words the nut job uttered were indeed false. It is one thing to utter falsehoods not knowing they are false and quite another to do so when the speaker in fact knows they aren’t true. Wilson’s words were spot on and since the nut job knew the words he uttered were false, that means the words of Wilson hit the target. The man is a proven liar; the opposition points it out and that is one of the reasons for the opposition being branded as wing-nuts by the left. The truth exposes the left’s true colors at every turn.

In the 1930’s FDR faced opposition to his New Deal programs. Lyons said it was hysteria when the people reacted to Social Security saying, “America was going communist! Abandoning the Constitution! Casting aside our sacred freedoms!” He called it hysteria and said the same type hysteria is the driving force against the nut job programs of this day and age. He is wrong again. We are headed for communism; we are abandoning the Constitution; and we are watching our freedom and liberty go into the trash bin; all done by the hand of the nut job and an out of control Congress.

If Lyon’s would open his leftist ideological blinded mind, he would see that the opposition is due to the nut job casting aside the Constitution at every turn. Where does the nut job find the power in the Constitution to fire executives, take over businesses and ram edicts down our throats? The mileage demand for vehicles which is one of the unconstitutional acts among others he has issued against our liberties. Please explain those Mr. Lyons since you are so good at explaining where we who cherish freedom from government are wrong. What is it about liberty you don’t like?

Another fallacy in Lyon’s diatribe concerns who he failed to blame for the economic down turn. He says that Bush’s economic and tax policies caused the melt down. Lyon’s narrow mind won’t allow him to mention Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Maxine Waters, Barney Frank, Christopher Dodd, Franklin Raines and the Community Reinvestment Act which saw the light of day during James Earl Carter’s reign of incompetent administering. Not to mention Bill Clinton and Janet Reno who threatened banks if they didn’t give loans to unqualified people who loan officers knew couldn’t pay the note.

The article ends with “It’s still the economy, stupid.” Not quite. We aren’t stupid and we of open minds know the left’s continued attempt to blame the problem on the economy is a smoke screen to hide the truth. We know the economic mess is actually due to the politicians not honoring Article I, Section 8 that places 17 limitations on government. Those politicians and their supporters like Lyons, who is a shining example of the left spouting sycophants, deny the truth and doggedly cling to their leftist ideology. Look in the mirror Mr. Lyons if you want to see a real live wing-nut with leftist blindness.
