Gene Lyons is a pretender. He pretends to be smart and his screed of the
August 19, 2010 in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette was another
attempt to show his brilliance. The article concerned the mosque at
Ground Zero. He began with a quote from Thomas Jefferson. “It does me no
injury for my neighbor to say there are 20 gods or no god. It neither
picks my pocket, nor breaks my leg.” The use of this quote is intended
to make the reader believe that there is no harm in Islam and the
mosque. That is where the trees and forest come into the scene.

In the world of Lyons, it seems that all religions are equal except the
religion of liberal left minded ideology, which is superior to all
others. Of course, Lyons will deny that, but his writing conveys it as
sure as lightening precedes thunder. Since he disparages people who
believe in God and follow Christ, it isn’t any wonder he thinks that the
mosque and Islam are nothing more troubling than an unruly wad of cotton
candy purchased at the fair. He ignores the violence that Islam promotes
and thinks anyone opposing the mosque is on the wrong side.

If Lyons understood the Constitution, he would know that the word
religion in the First Amendment meant beliefs whose foundation was God,
the Creator of the heavens and earth. Not one word concerning Islam or
Muslims can be found in the works of the founders; nor were any Muslims
part of the founding. The religion of Islam and the Koran are 180
degrees removed from the tenants of belief in God whom the believing
founders revered. Further, the founders wanted to be out from under the
demands of the King George III and the Church of England so they could
worship God, as they were lead. Not by any stretch of the imagination
did freedom of religion open the door to any and all beliefs that didn’t
honor God and which also would preach the destruction of the United
States. In case Lyons wants to notice, that is exactly what Islam
teaches and most Muslims preach. It will break your leg and pick your
pocket.

Lyons makes fun of the hallowed ground and blames the idea on
Republicans for its beginning. Listen up Gene. It was the people of New
York who began to sound the alarm. They are from all walks of life,
which include unbelievers, Republicans, Democrats, Jews and Christians.
Both Republican and Democrat politicians jumped on the bandwagon against
the mosque when they saw the opposition to the mosque. He attempted to
equate certain types of nearby businesses to deny and disparage the
hollowed ground designation. Owners of those nearby businesses did plot
to kill by flying airplanes into those towers.

|
By wrongly interpreting the First Amendment, ideas that undermine our
republic are allowed to promote subversive acts masquerading as
religion, and as a result, the enemy is now within, with a proponent of
it is sitting in the White House. Lyons refuses to see that we are at
war with an ideology called Islam whose adherents intend to use it to
change our republic into a cruel existence for the people. In other
words, evil is using our freedom of religion against us.

The apostle Paul wrote: 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the
Lord, and in the power of his might.11 Put on the whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we
wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against
spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the
whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day,
and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins
girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to
quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (Ephesians 6:10-16)

We are fighting an ideology that is devoid of God and the teachings of
Christ. Those who preach the evil ideology of Islam are the agents of
the devil; they are promoting evil; and those who fail to see the truth
are of the same crowd. Thus Lyons can’t see the forest for the trees and
is guilty condoning the ways of Satan.

Ronald Reagan sums up Lyons with the following,
"The problem with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, it
is that they know so much that isn't so."
