A hearty industrious people, yearning for liberty, settled what is known as the Republic of the United States. They toiled to make a better life for themselves and their fellow man. They fought a war for independence from a tyrannical king who wanted to dictate every facet of their lives, especially the religious part of their daily living. They rebelled and fought in what is called the Revolutionary War, and out of that effort came one of the most magnificent governing documents man has ever created since the Bible was written, the Constitution of the United States. It is designed to limit government and give freedom and liberty to all, no matter their station in life.  It is a set of rules that does not favor one group over another and it does not give anyone an advantage over anyone else.

Slowly, over the years, the government has been steadily and stealthily moving into all areas of life. The people have been led to believe that government can give them a life of ease with help of all kinds to make everything better. The idea that the government would furnish help from the cradle to the grave isn’t believed to be wrong and it becomes more apparent as the years pass. Expectant mothers receive help before the baby is born; the family receives food supplements, rent, day care, aid to dependent children, medical care and unemployment to name a few of the programs. No effort is made to end the near total dependency and the majority does not see anything wrong with all the aid; plus, the politicians want to give more aid which only furthers dependence.

An article in Cowboybyte.com  presents a very troubling fact. Only 49 percent of the citizens polled believe that our culture is better than others. That is a drop from 60 percent. The article also points out that [Y]young people are also much more likely than older Americans to believe the government should make sure no one is in need. Can you say cradle to the grave? Not only is that troubling for our future, 53 percent of Democrats have a positive image of socialism. Why would they not believe it when many of them are on the public dole and are the ones promoting more government dependency?

Nancy Pelosi is one of the loons of the left promoting government help. In an article on CNSNEWS she said, unemployment insurance benefits act as a “safety net for our whole economy,” adding that they simultaneously constitute “probably the most important” stimulus for the economy. She has no knowledge of true economics and never will have any. She also said concerning unemployment payments that people have paid into an unemployment insurance program and then they have those benefits. The employee does not pay into the insurance fund directly; the employer pays into it. Pelosi said a few months ago that unemployment benefits grew the economy just as much, if not more, than working.  She even thinks food stamps add to the economy and people believe her. Okay, let’s give unemployment compensation and food stamps to everyone and have booming economy. Pelosi and the others never bother to explain how it works or who will do the work because to them it is true that the government is the big giver for all things. Such is the product of a twisted mind.

Madam Pelosi isn’t alone in the twisted mind category. When Democrat Representative John Conyers was asked where in the Constitution that the federal government found the power to create medical insurance he responded with the “good and welfare clause” gives Congress the authority to force individuals to buy health insurance. Incredibly, the man has a law license. Sadly the people who voted for him don’t know any better either and the election of the man last time is more proof that the nation is headed to oblivion.

Those with wealth are an endangered species in the year 2013. The nut job is doing everything he can do to raise taxes on the top two percent of earners. Of course, those receiving largesse cheer each time he speaks on the subject. They never stop to think that the taxes they cheer aren’t going to improve their life one bit. It is envy and jealousy that is the driving force. Try to stop the ideas and immediately the accusations fly that those who want to make changes want people to die. No, we want them out of our pockets.

Morals are another area that is not given much thought. God is not honored and any suggestion that homosexual behavior is sin is met with derision and hate language. It isn’t uncommon to read in the news or hear that someone has been arrested for preaching the gospel. Children in schools are forbidden to speak of God and cannot attend programs that are religiously oriented. That is how far the republic has gone into the darkness.

Once the people became dependent on the government aid instead of working, weaning them from it creates a cacophony similar to the young animals in the barnyard when they are weaned from their mommas. In like fashion, the politicians react like the mommas who don’t want to give up their connection to their offspring. The politicians puff, bluster, threaten and generally behave like the spoiled dependents. Is it any wonder that a large number of people are no longer industrious or lovers of liberty? No, because they have been conditioned to expect handouts provided by the remaining industrious liberty loving taxpayers.

It may be that the title of this article is wrong. From the way the nation is headed, it is a stampede to oblivion with the ungodly and politicians (sorry, I repeated myself) leading the stampede that is fostering more dependence while destroying freedom from government and the liberty that accompanies it.
