MERRY CHRISTMAS

The words of Luke in Chapter 2:10-11 should be a time of rejoicing: 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Those words apply to everyone who hears or reads them, even the ACLU anti-god contingent, liberal anything goes Democrats, and all others who declare that God, Jesus, and the Bible are nothing but the mythical ranting of demented minds. It should make anyone who hears the raving and ranting of the bellicose groups, wonder why they are so vehement about that which they claim isn’t true, dangerous, and enslaving of human kind.

It makes no difference what date Jesus Christ was born. The important fact is that he was born; that birth being the beginning of the message that saves us from our evil intentions and behavior. But that salvation which His birth ushered in thirty-three years later requires a corresponding acceptance of the requirements set forth to claim the eternal salvation he offers. Paul wrote in II Corinthians 5:17 that those in Christ have a new way of life called a new creature, requiring a new outlook: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  The message is clear, that verse tells us that there was an old self that is now transformed in Christ to a new creation (a new self).

In addition, God considers those who obey him to be clean in Christ. The scriptures teach us in II Corinthians 7:1, based on God’s promises found in the earlier verses, of II Corinthians 6:16-18: Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.  (See 6:16-18 for the promises.) Again, it is clear that God requires a new life that testifies to your receiving the truth of his salvation given in Christ.

What makes it so difficult for the ACLU members, the anti-god Democrats, atheists, and other ilk to accept God and his way? Just as the Pharisees wouldn’t accept that Jesus came from God, and resented him calling them to account for imposing their own rules on the people, the aforementioned refuse to accept that there is a higher being in the universe with more power than they. To acknowledge God would require them to give up their god of humanism which makes the rules according to human desires of the flesh. There is no evil in their eyes since sin doesn’t exist. God’s word is constantly reminding them of their nefarious beliefs causing them much anguish. They would be very wise to heed the words of Isaiah in 13:11-12: 11  And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. 12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. That man more precious is Jesus Christ.

All of the above brings us to the day we call Christmas. Christmas is the reminder that God exists. For those who refuse God and the way of life that His son brings, Christmas is a constant reminder of their miserable condition of being mired in sin. They attempt to assuage their consciences by railing against the truth, apparently believing that such behavior will cause God to go away. More likely, they think that their antics will make believers go away. On the contrary, believers become more firm in their belief in God.

On the day we call Christmas, the blessing of God came to earth. As the multitude of heavenly hosts sang upon hearing the good news of His impending birth, let all of us have their mind: 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (Luke 2:14) That is God’s message to his creation. He wants all to have the best possible life and that begins with obedience to the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Christ is his good will toward us, the greatest gift of all time.

I wish a Merry Christmas to all the visitors to this site. May your days be blessed through knowing the meaning of Christ’s birth. And by the way, in the spirit of the day, tell all the sore heads mentioned above, Merry Christmas. Make their day.
