The inmates are running the asylum. What asylum you ask. The United
Collective Asylum of America better know as the once independent people
of the United States who once took the responsibility for the care of
themselves. But, my how the thinking of the people has changed. They
clamor for more government aid and now it is really for the children, or
so they say. Who is the “they say” crowd? Liberal Democrats and their,
“I want more help” supporters are who. At whose expense will all this
wonderful help be provided? Do you really need an answer? Well, in case
you do, read on, please.
|
|
It began with Medicare to help those elderly that didn’t have insurance,
and somewhere along the line someone must have said, “It’s to help out
the less fortunate so their children won’t need to bear the burden of
paying for their health care.” It helped the children and they more than
likely appreciated it. Like a balloon being filled with hot air that
program has expanded to proportions that one day will … put in your ear
plugs when the explosion occurs.
|
|
If you are expecting the word compassion for the less fortunate, then it
is on the way. How about compassionate conservatism for starters? It is
another way of saying that conservatives are just as compassionate
toward the “have nots” or the “have less” bunch than liberals, only that
they aren’t as eager to tap the taxpayers for more funds to pay for the
unconstitutional schemes. The mantra seems to be, “Vote for us, it won’t
cost you as much.” Loosing freedom and liberty a small portion at a
time isn’t as noticeable and painful as when it is taken in huge chunks.
|
|
As expected, the entertainment poobahs have weighed in on the issue of
the “we are doing it for the children” SCHIP bill. Paul Simon, a
singer/songwriter, joined with Nancy Pelosi to pressure for a veto
override. He said, "The president's veto of the reauthorization of SCHIP
appears to be a heartless act," He went on to say, "I'm here today to
ask those of you who supported the veto to reexamine your conscience, to
find compassion in your heart for our most vulnerable and sweetest
citizens, our children.” There it is and I told you it was coming, the
word compassion. That will open the wallet every time.
|
|
Then another brilliant more government man, Irwin Redlener, wanted the
bill to pass because the issue of uninsured children is "too
overwhelming" for privately funded groups like theirs to handle. Then
more inanity followed or is that insanity? "The scale of the problem is
large," Redlener told Cybercast News Service. "With this number
of children involved, we really need the participation of the
government." As would be expected, the solution is more government.
|
|
But there are two solutions for the dilemma that the liberals have
created for Redlener’s angst. How about resurrecting the long forgotten
practice of the best privately funded means for providing for the health
needs of the children which is their parents? And
the government can help too. Get out of the insurance business; reduce
spending on all things except as allowed by the Constitution; and reduce
taxes at all levels. When those are done Mr. Redlener won’t need to
worry about his charity not being able to meet the need.
|
|
Not surprisingly, there will be those who will rise up and say, “That’s
insane.” Of course they will because in this world now, sane and
sensible ideas are forms of insanity and are unconscionable, while far
out, unconstitutional, programs are classed as compassionate,
reasonable, and sane. It’s always better to be compassionate with
somebody else’s money and that is sane and reasonable.
|
|
Yet the insanity goes even deeper. It is said that insanity is doing the
same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. The
following is a sure sign of insane thinking. On the one hand the people
are clamoring for more government which will inevitably control all
aspects of life, and on the other, they complain that liberty is being
lost because the government more and more is intruding on private living
and all aspects of life. The insane thinking disregards the fact that
more government help means more loss of liberty in all aspects of life.
|
|
All of the government help projects and intrusions are ruining this
nation. In Sorting It Out, it is time to stop all this National Insanity
before all of us are as insane as those promoting the lethal practice of
government expansion.
