NO HONOR IS DUE

In Romans Chapter 13 Paul wrote concerning the role of government and the relationship we are to have with it and the responsibilities of the government to ensure the overall well being of society. Paul was dealing with behavior of those that would be detrimental to a safe existence.  He then wrote concerning the proper attitude of Christians toward government, which should apply to all: [Rom 13:7] Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. The citizens are to respect the government but the words due and honour are very revealing. Due refers to indebtedness to those who oversee the providing of certain services to the general society and the word honor, which has the element of worth, respect, and esteem toward those who are in government.

Due is the pivotal word since there are some who by their nature aren’t worthy of respect and honor. There isn’t any word in any scripture that indicates that those who misbehave deserve respect or honor. How can a Christian or an otherwise moral individual pay honor to the likes of John Murtha (deceased), Nancy Pelosi, Cindy Sheehan, Howard Dean, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy 9 (deceased), Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Barney Frank, and all the others who speak against our moral traditions, way of life, and the nation in general? Are they due respect and honor given their conduct and statements over the years? Granted some of those named above aren’t in government positions, but the principle about due honor applies.

Where is the element of honor due to any that degrades our military efforts to destroy the enemy? Why should they be given honor for the vile and vindictive adolescent ravings much like irresponsible out of control juveniles? It is one thing to offer criticism and quite another to say things that will only help lead us to possible destruction.

Ted Kennedy let a woman die in his car after he drove it off a bridge and it sank; yet this man apparently thought he was worthy of respect and honor. Bill Clinton conducted himself in unseemly ways while in the Oval Office (immoral conduct actually took place in the Oval Office) and lied about it. The issue wasn’t and still isn’t sex; it is conduct that degraded the Office of the President and has served to degrade the moral fiber of the nation due to the inference that what he was doing wasn’t wrong. Barney Frank is a homosexual who shows no shame for his conduct. Please indicate the verse in the Bible that says he is worthy of honor in light of his behavior. The same goes for all the others listed and the many more that are in the public arena.

An argument is put forth that since church and state is separated, any opposition to unseemly or wrong conduct on the part of officials is judging and the judge not verse is trotted out. The pathetic part is that those who know little of the scriptures and know even less about God, and who don’t follow God, use scripture to either justify their behavior or to condemn those who point out sin. Do these types deserve honor and respect?

Our nation faces trying times and yes, survival in the long term of the trying times. How can we survive when the voices of evil (yes I wrote evil) make every effort to counter the efforts of those who are doing that which will protect us from the various evil activities perpetrated by the enemy?

In Sorting It Out, the people of this nation must rid the government of politicians and others who aren’t offering another view, but in fact are offering that which will destroy us. No Honor is Due them and it is long since past time to elect those whom we can truly respect and honor.
