This section is dedicated to Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, two zany comedians who always created impossible situations for themselves, but neither would accept responsibility for the inevitable failure of their plan. When all went awry, Stan would say, "Fine mess you got us into Ollie." He simply refused to accept that he was part of the problem. The Ollie Award is given to those, both individuals and groups, who will not accept responsibility for the fine mess they continue to create in our republic. Unlike Stan and Ollie, the recipients are not funny; they are destructive.
