There is no denying that firearms are a danger to the criminal element
which preys on those they perceive to be weak and defenseless. In like
manner, another aspect of the freedom and liberty in the United States
which is dangerous to certain groups is free speech. Who are the groups
who view free speech dangerous? Many different groups who have agendas
that they don’t want disputed and more specifically, The United States
Congress who views free speech dangerous to their high handed
intolerant, tyrannical ways. We saw a good example of their ranting
about free speech when the native rose up and loudly spoke against the
immigration bill that the out of control Congress tried to shove down
our throats. In fact, Senator Trent Lott, Republican, Mississippi, said
in a moment of pique, “Talk radio is running America. We have to deal
with that problem.” Mr. Lott went on to say, Senate Republican leaders
may try to rein in “younger guys who are huffing and puffing against the
bill.” (Google for sources.) In other words, freedom of speech is
dangerous to the elected poobahs and is a problem to those who think we
are much too noisy in opposition to their nation ruining ways.

A bit of historical perspective is in order. The First Amendment is
there to prevent government from stifling free speech. England tried to
silence the colonies from engaging in any speech that could be construed
to be detrimental to the Crown. Freedom and liberty go hand in hand with
the ability to speak out on all issues, politically, religiously,
economically, and morally. Limit the speech in any one of those areas,
and the others will ultimately crumble to the oppressors and censors.
When that happens, unbridled tyranny is the result.

The liberal Democrats and even some misguided Republicans want to bring
back the fairness doctrine. Essentially, it calls for the opposing side
to be able to speak when someone talks against any ideology. Never mind
that free speech propels ideas in the market place of talk radio, just
as ideas propel the supply and demand of goods offered daily. Some
things sell and some things don’t, and it is readily apparent that
liberal ideas don’t sell well on the radio. So the solution is to limit
free speech in order that their idiotic ideas can’t be refuted. One of
the worst things that can happen to a liberal is to have his or her
words dumped on them and talk radio does that well.

Liberal talk radio can’t sell ads to support their attempts to “sell”
their socialist, communistic, and tyrannical agenda to the people. Many
have tried and they end up in bankruptcy or have such a small audience
that they are relegated to the wee hours of the clock or on the internet
at odd hours. Since they can’t compete on the open playing field with
their ideas, they want to limit the rules for the playing field. Simply,
since they can’t compete they want to shut down the competition. Then
and only then can they have free reign to push their notions.

But the control of the airways will effectively destroy all discussion
since a business must make a profit to exist. By forcing a station to
air all positions on an issue, the owners won’t contract with anyone to
do any talk of any kind that would even come close to political or
religious speech. The goal is to silence those who oppose them, and such
opposition is a problem as Senator Lott said. In sorting It Out, the
goal of the liberals isn’t fairness as they claim. It is censorship and
the gutting of the Amendment. Such is the way of despots and tyrants who
pose a peril to the free exchange of ideas unhampered by the government.
