PITY THE UNBELIEVERS |
|
It is a fact that there are people who proudly display their ignorance when unbelief in God resides inside their head. A regular contributor to the Voices Column of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette castigates with his latest diatribe anyone who believes in God. He wrote “the religionists have had their say and come off sounding foolish, childish and totally ignorant.” Then he said using his superior knowledge that “there is absolutely no similarity between the men who wrote the Bible and the educated men who wrote the Constitution.” No similarity except for the fact that both groups believed in God for starters. That is an historical fact and the writer needs to prove it different. But never mind the facts. The writer thinks it is so, therefore it is true. Then the writer went on with is supreme ignorance with “there is no proof, no evidence or even a shred of fact in any historical data to assert the existence of any god or gods,” …. The following verse from historical data has yet to be refuted. Psalms 19:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork. The letter writer needs to explain where and how all came into being with alignment of the planets, stars, and the rotation of the earth in relation to the sun, plus all the other wonders of the universe. He needs to explain the origin of the complex design of the eyes of humans and other creatures. Only someone who is wed to ignorance with hostility to reason, logic and God can make such a profoundly stupid statement that there isn’t proof of God. The contributor does the exactly what the scriptures teach and in his blindness, he refuses to see it. To the chief Musician upon Mahalath, Maschil, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. (Psalms 53:1) When statements are made that believers must prove that God exists, people such as the writer are using the ploy that attempts to put the believers on the defensive. However, the proof that God does not exist is on their shoulders since they are the unbelievers. Instead of using reason and logic, wild assumptions are offered as proof. Require them to offer proof that God is a myth. In the last sentence the writer offered the following: “All the quotes and miracles attributed to Jesus are nothing more than supposition; not a single line was written by anyone who ever saw or heard him. Think about that.” No need to think of it very long. He is wrong and demonstrably so. John 1:1-3 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; 2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. Read what Luke had to say in Acts 1:1-3 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: 3 To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: One of the interesting behaviors of people like the writer is their claim which borders on calling others liars. Yet, there isn’t one shred of evidence anywhere that those who wrote the scriptures were not telling the truth. The truth deniers would have you believe that they are all wise and knowing of facts when the truth is they know nothing of the truth. The writer would do well to read the works of Josephus, the Jewish historian, who was born in AD 37. That was between the time of the ascension into heaven and the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70. He died after AD 100. Josephus not only wrote of the events that occurred during his lifetime, he knew many of those who are spoken of in the Bible. The letter writer has to prove that all of those who wrote of Jesus, saw Jesus and talked with him in that time period are lairs to prove his assertion. Not only that, but they must prove the Bible is nothing but a myth filled book. The efforts made by many over the years to prove that the Bible is false, has only proved it is true. It is a sad commentary on those who will not see the truth when it is all around them. In that manner, they deny their very existence and their own life that abundantly belongs to them. What is their origin? Except for their parents, they have no answer. © 06-09-2013 DEC |
