Cameras; phone taps; drones; internet snooping; warrant-less searches; false charges; made up laws; out of control police officers; neighbors spying on neighbors; confiscation of legally owned property-namely firearms; food regulated; drink quantities banned; TSA; gun control initiatives; kids arrested for running neighborhood drink and cookie stands; and on it goes with an assault on liberty. The list is but a few of the liberty strangling behavior of governments at all levels and much of it violates both the federal Constitution and the constitutions of many states.

If the above is no the norm nationwide at present, they are gaining ground as the days pass. It is all being done under the guise of making society safer. Two troubling facts stand out in reference to making society safer; one, politicians and bureaucrats think it is their duty to create laws that control citizens; two, citizens expect government to control behavior. But the most troubling fact is that as more control is exercised the people expect more of it and go along. Liberty is sacrificed for the false idea that government can protect the populace through laws designed to control behavior.

Laws are proposed to limit access to firearms, but all they will do is penalize law abiding citizens while doing next to nothing to stop criminal behavior. The proposed laws are created to help quell the panic the public supposedly has due to the various killing and maiming that have taken place. The truth is that the public as whole is not in a panic; it is a few who think government can solve the problem and politicians, both Republicans and Democrats who are all too eager to do something even though history shows it won’t work. The result is that the liberty of the law abiding will be furthered curtailed by the laws that do nothing but make someone feel good that something was done.

Regarding the gun control bills which were defeated in the Senate on Wednesday, April 17, 20013, the nut job was not happy that his tyrannical ideas were shot down. (Excuse the pun.) He made reference to one of the bills that “didn’t contain everything I wanted or everything that these families wanted.” With him it makes no difference what the Constitution requires and the same can be said for those who wanted something done that the Constitution does not allow.

It is safe to conclude that knowledge of the US Constitution, and also the constitutions of the respective states, is very poor amongst the general population. The left doesn’t see the need to follow the Constitution and that creates the same notion in the general population. Governance is reduced to what people want and the politicians who try to comply. The result is the further constraining of liberty in what at one time was the land of the free-that is the free and home of the brave free-of government control of life.

Those who see nothing wrong with more government control ridicule those who want the government to leave law abiding citizens alone as was once the rule in the republic. Government activities that were at one time illegal are now viewed as the norm by increasing numbers of people and activities that were normal are now regarded as illegal. People are harassed, arrested and their reputations ruined, not to mention the financial ruin the illegal activities of the government bring to them. School children are arrested for wearing clothing that is not politically correct. Though no states laws are violated in most of the cases, school rules have been elevated to the status of laws. Mentally challenged school officials are now all powerful and eager to prove it with false charges to solve imaginary problems. Instead of dealing with real behavioral problems, they call the police to deal with made up violations, then they make arrests and later try to decide what charge will be filed.    

Prosecutors and police officers in several jurisdictions routinely lie, conceal evidence and try to make everyone think all they are doing is making society safer. But that is the way the people who work in the police state behave. To them it is normal when in fact it is evil to the core. Such a suggestion often causes the wrath of government to fall on those who are bold enough to blow the whistle.
