POOR JOHN BRUMMETT |
|
John Brummett is scared. He is afraid those terrible Republicans are going to make life intolerable for the people of Arkansas since they now control the legislature. In his column article of 11-13-2012 in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Dear John predicts all kinds of turmoil and chaos. Those will occur because they are going to push for lower taxes, improved educational opportunities and will try to keep Medicaid expansion under control. There are3 more but those will suffice to show his fright. The question the Brummetts of the world never bother to answer is how does society keep spending more and more of the economic resources without going broke? Their answer if they do answer is tax the wealthy more. That shows a narrow mind not capable of rational thinking. He wrote that a woman who was working at a Democrat booth heard people say that one can’t be a Democrat and a Christian at the same time. Is that true? That will be answered in a moment. Mr. Brummett went on to write that “It’s a problem nationwide for Republicans that they are laden with white evangelicals who pull them to the intolerant right and alienate other groups.” Note that he wrote the intolerant white evangelicals. Does he exclude black evangelicals? It appears that a Mr. Brummett has bit of racism in his head, but that is okay, he is a liberal. Next is the answer the question about being a follower of Jesus and a Democrat at the same time. But first, let’s ask another question. Are those who believe the scriptures intolerant? Now to answer both since they are related. Jesus said, The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. (John 10:10-11) Obviously, Jesus came to bring eternal life to all who will believe and obey the gospel. Life is the gift that God gave all of humanity through Adam And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7) God continues to give life through the human process of procreation. Should believers be tolerant of those beliefs that deny life to an unborn human and by the way, which the Democrat Party supports? Can a believer in Jesus be affiliated with a party that encourages, and supports homosexual conduct and so called homosexual marriage? Those believers, if they are, who cling to party instead of Jesus need to ponder what Jesus told Thomas Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. He didn’t say Muhammad Buddha, Confucius or anyone else. Jesus came to bring salvation to the lost and those who claim other ways are lost with no hope of salvation in their present condition of mind. People such as Mr. Brummett do not make any connection between belief in God, faith in Christ and fidelity to either of them. When their names are invoked against deviancy and other sinful practices, then they scream intolerance at the believers. Are believers supposed to be tolerant of sin just so the conscience of others won’t be troubled? Are believers supposed to leave their godly beliefs at the door of the legislature because of the false doctrine of separation of church and state? Liberals such as Mr. Brummett yell intolerance to those who do not believe as they believe. But, the real intolerant ones are the liberals who demean and castigate anyone who speaks for decency. Mr. Brummett your unbelief is showing. Have those questions been answered? People who say they believe in God and follow Jesus must examine their belief. Is it Jesus or political parties and tolerance for deliberate sin? © 11-13-2012 DEC |
