PRAISE THE FOUNDERS

In a special article, Electoral College preserves liberty, on 10-13-2012 to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Karl Kimball extolled the virtues of the Electoral College system of electing the President. The article pointed out that it was one of the basic tenants of federalism whereby each state, small or large, had a participation in the election of a president. The points he made are well grounded in facts which point out the reasons for the system.

Nothing would please the liberals more than the eradication of the Electoral College. When the fiasco of the 2000 election caused by Al Gore and his sycophants, (not excluding the Florida Supreme Court) ended, the hue and cry was to be rid of the Electoral College because Gore won the popular vote. And who can forget Hillary Clinton’s screeching that she would work to end the Electoral College since it robs so many people of their vote. The other line of the liberals is that only a few states will control the outcome of the election. Only liberals and the misinformed believe those two lines.

What she meant was that the present system keeps liberals/Democrats for perpetually controlling who will be elected to the highest office in the land. For whatever reason, the large metropolitan population centers are where liberals and malcontents create their foul nests. If you think that is harsh, look at Boston, New York City, Baltimore Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco, and Los Angeles to name a few of the nesting grounds for liberals.

Voting history shows that the people in those cities most often vote overwhelmingly for the tainted creatures known as liberal politicians. For some reason, those types think they should control all that lives and moves anywhere in the republic. New York City Mayor, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, is the controlling authority on menu listings, size of food portions, salt and soft drink size. Do we actually want more people such as him telling us how to manage our daily lives? The man in the White House is enough, thank you.

As for the line of “only a few states will control the out come of the election,” only a few states have always controlled the outcome unless it is a blow out landslide by one of the candidates; for example, when Ronald Reagan buried Walter Mondale in 1984 with 49 of 50 states and states and 525 electoral votes of 538. Mondale carried his home state of Minnesota and the District of Columbia, which shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone.

Since the large cities are the breeding grounds for perpetual liberalism, the Electoral College prevents the large population of liberals from controlling an election more than they are presently able. If there wasn’t an Electoral College, the candidates would only need to appeal to large voting blocks to make sure that they did not stray from the government provided nests run by liberal Democrats. The smaller states would be left out in the cold to suffer the indignities shoved onto them perpetually by liberal office holders.

And speaking of shoving of indignities onto the people; that is already happening with the nut job medical care law. The nut job, Congress and the Supreme Court have violated Article I, Section 8 at every turn, not to mention that the House must write and pass all tax bills. Just imagine what will happen if liberals could perpetually elect office holders with no opposition standing in the way. And then appoint bureaucrats who would perpetually harass us with everything they could dream up, much like the EPA, Home Land Security and the TSA are now doing in the name of “this is what is good for you so obey orders.”

Mr. Kimball asked a question at the end of the article. “Do we wish to abandon the founders’ wise system because the result was not to the plurality’s liking so seldom?”  No we don’t. That is the basis of the complaints of the liberals; they cannot control the outcome of the elections time after time. Praise the founders for their inestimable wisdom for creating a level playing field which infuriates the liberals.
