PREACH THE GOSPEL Part II

In the previous lesson, verses were presented that tell believers to preach the gospel and the negative effects when the message of Jesus is presented to the lost world. Paul’s words to Timothy tell us there will be those who refuse the truth and will go seek out false teachers who will preach what they want to hear. It is no different today as you will read. What is amazing is that the Word of God tells us what people will do and we see it every day as people deny God and head down the road to sin. In the last paragraph of the previous lesson you will find the following: In order to cure a guilty conscience the offenders try to silence the speakers of truth. While they succeeded in killing the early apostolic messengers of Christ and the Christians who followed, the message still endures because God’s people refuse to be silenced. The other effort to bring silence is for political reasons and it is just as dangerous since it stifles liberty and allows sin to flourish.

In the Roman times the messengers were killed, but that isn’t allowable now so another approach is being used. First, the sinners, namely homosexuals, can’t silence individuals or the churches and stop preaching that homosexuality is sinful and those who so practice it are sinners. Unable to silence anyone by themselves, they have turned to the government for help in doing so, and the liberal, ungodly contingent of leftist Democrats are all too willing to do the bidding of the sinners to stop the preaching of truth. To put it bluntly, persecution of Christians having already begun in local places is being promoted by elected members of Congress. (See remarks by Rep. John Conyers, Democrat, Michigan http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=55392)

It is time for blunt talk and writing. We’ll begin with Paul’s words: 14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: 15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: 16  Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost. (1 Thessalonians 2:14-16) Believers were being persecuted by the citizens where they lived just as the unbelieving Jews persecuted those who followed Jesus. Note that Paul said the Jews not only killed Jesus, but their own prophets because they didn’t want the apostles preaching to the Gentiles. According to the thinking of some in all eras, that is hate speech.

Next, the nation was founded for religious freedom and freedom to speak which includes the freedom to preach the gospel. But if that bill is passed, and prevails over a veto, the freedom to preach the gospel will be no more. It will be called hate speech of which Paul would have been guilty for speaking as he did in 1 Corinthians 6: 9-11. Seeing that the homosexuals can’t silence the truth as individuals or as a group, Conyer’s ensures that his legislation will do it for them by using the power of the federal government against Christians. Substitute the homosexual for Gentiles in verse 16 and you will get the message and the reason for stifling the truth. Homosexuals don’t believe the word of God as it is written nor do the politicians. Truth points out sin, and the homosexuals and the politicians don’t like it.

Now we go to the blunt talk. It is glaringly apparent that the liberal left Democrat members of the party are in the business of promoting sin and in the process are willing to prevent the truth of God’s word from disturbing the blatant in your face crowd called homosexuals. They call it hurtful and hate speech.

The Bible gives ample warning in many places to sinners such as found in Ephesians 5:1-13. We have in this day a most repugnant situation. Some people who call themselves Christians have fallen for the ideology of the corrupt politicians pandering for homosexual rights in order to gain votes. Paul wrote in verses 11 and 12: And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. 12 For it is a shame even to speak (meaning not to be a part of everyday conversation) of those things which are done of them in secret.  Yet, daily in the news we read and hear of the shameful acts done by perverts, with no thought to the shame of speaking about them or the fact that the acts themselves are sin. Sadly the shameful acts are condoned and approved by the leftist Democrats.

We as Christians must serve notice on the unfruitful works being perpetrated by the likes of John Conyers and his following ilk. If that bill becomes law, this web site will be in violation. . He can do what he and his debauched group wants. So be it, they will have a fight on their hands as this Christian writer defends the First Amendment and the gospel. As Peter wrote: 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. 17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. (1 Peter 3:15-17) With the mind of Joshua who said to the people of old when deciding who they should serve: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. (Joshua 24:15) I have made my decision Mr. Conyers. I won’t be silenced by you or your vile bill.
