Hillary Clinton is on record that she prefers being known as a progressive rather than a liberal. If one understands that the word progressive means moving forward, continuing by successive steps as through political reform, and then compares the definitions with the woman’s behavior over the years, it ought to give anyone who values freedom and liberty pause. The word very aptly describes her ideology and her political agenda.

Leaving Hillary in the lurch for the moment, let’s comment on an ongoing event that won’t go away and remains a more current event. The ongoing event is the clamor for gun control which is an effort to eviscerate the Second Amendment. Ever since Sarah Brady’s husband was severely injured by a bullet when President Reagan was shot, she has been on a maniacal quest to destroy the right of millions of citizens to own a gun. Laws governing the issue of concealed carry, registration, and storage have been enacted in a misguided attempt to control the behavior of firearms owners because of crime and the criminal use of guns. The word infringed in the amendment is being ignored even though the laws for permits and other issues are an infringement.

Yet, we must continue to go backward in the matter of the continuing assault on the original Ten Amendments to the Constitution, and freedom and liberty. The assault on religious freedom broke into the open with the ruling by the United States Supreme Court in 1947 and it has continued to the present day. Bibles have been removed from the schools; prayers at public functions of all types are forbidden by various levels of government; the Ten Commandments have been ordered removed from public property; and nativity scenes are illegal. Every one of those events has been ongoing through the many cases before the federal courts. Try the word progressive: continuing by successive steps as through political reform and in those cases before the various courts, the progression of suppression is by the court decisions.

Now let’s revisit Hillary and her fondness of the word progressive. She knows full well that the changes she desires can’t be done except by stealth. She has said that change must come through the legislative processes because otherwise people will resist it. She favors legislation which will force moral people to accept homosexual marriages. She favors hate crime laws so that immoral people will be protected by special rights. She favors higher taxes to pay for all he socialist notions she holds for the nation. She favors confiscation of the profits of large companies (oil for one, that is just the tip of the iceberg) so that she can pay for alternative energy initiatives. The foregoing are just a few of her ideas.

The United States Supreme Court destroyed property rights with the Kelo decision. The decision is a direct assault on the right to own property which is basic to freedom and liberty. Prior to that decision, the EPA, the ESA (Endangered Species Act) and the draconian laws and rules have routinely deprived land owners of their use of the land that doesn’t meet bureaucratic approval. Now with Kelo, land owners are no longer secure in his or her person and affects. Note that all of the action has been progressive.

The greedy “grab all the power she can” senator wants a smoking ban nationwide. Beware dear readers for there is danger. Remember that taxes on smokes pay for health care for certain groups of citizens. Guess what will happen when the taxes on tobacco won’t pay for the care? Taxes will go up. Can you see the progressive action?

The people won’t allow a sledge hammer approach to change, so progressive actions of many kinds are instituted to bring about successive changes. Are you beginning to understand her love of the word progressive?

 In Sorting It Out, be very careful with those who want to define themselves by changing words. It won’t be progressive suppression any longer with her. A sledge hammer will be the order of the day if she is elected president.
