One reads a lot about movie stars such as Tom Cruise, Madonna, Brad Pitt, John Travolta, Lisa Presley and others being committed to the Religion of Scientology. This article is to briefly state the highlights of this religion, mysterious as it is.     

       The Church of Scientology was founded by Lafayette Ronald Hubbard, who was a traveler, screenwriter, and an author of novels and short stories which dealt mostly with science fiction.  He formed the religion philosophy of Scientology.

       The current church states its membership at eight million. It states it is an active force for positive change. They believe that a God exists but not specific of the nature of deity. An individual can discover that for himself, in other words, religious tolerance. They reject the concept of eternal life in hell or heaven. It is their belief that we are immortal spiritual beings and thus reincarnated several times. They believe in human rights promoted by the United Nations. They are against the fireman of New York. They believe in being self-reliant and that the effects of drugs and toxins can destroy life. They have community programs on drug education, drug prevention, and rehabilitation.

      They speak of Dianetics (the only thing that gets rid of the reactive mind so you can become more you), and Operating Thetan which is apparently control of self and the environment. They say Scientology works by applying its principles and observing the results.     

     Justice Latey, ruling in the High Court of London, writes "Scientology is both immoral and socially obnoxious...it is corrupt, sinister, and dangerous. It is corrupt as it is based on lies and deceit". You be your own Judge.
