RINGING BELLS FOR SIN

A milestone has been reached in the Republic of the United States. People are now openly celebrating the acceptance of sinful conduct. A nation that was built on God’s holy principles of conduct has been swept aside in favor of the same type of behavior that brought death to the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. Marriage according to the teaching of God has been relegated to the closet by the United States Supreme Court and men have substituted their own will for that of God.

God’s Word means nothing to those who wish to apply their own will to matters of life. Ignoring the will of God and his teachings began many years before the 70 A.D. destruction of Jerusalem and it has continued to present day. When the United States Supreme Court issued the ruling on homo-sex “marriage” the National Cathedral bells were rung in celebration of the ruling. The following is a News Max  account and quote from a man who knows little of God’s message: Speaking at the service, the Rev. Gary Hall, the cathedral dean, said, “I do believe we have turned a corner in American life. I do believe we have turned a corner in the faith community’s life." Hall said the ruling should be viewed as a call for all Christians to embrace religious marriage equality, Hall, a vocal supporter of same-sex marriage, also observed, "We are now at a place where we are beginning to see together that the sacrament of marriage is a divine gift, a divine gift offered to everyone regardless of sexual orientation." The man’s understanding of the gospel message is a disgrace to him an all who think he is correct.

First, the word sacrament cannot be found in the scriptures and marriage is not a sacrament by any stretch of the imagination. Marriage has nothing to do with a requirement for salvation. The idea of a sacrament is an invention of men that must be done as part of the believer’s religious life. Secondly, marriage was given to men and women; a man married to a woman and when he said marriage is “a divine gift offered to everyone regardless of sexual orientation” he profaned the word of God. He needs to study the word instead of making himself an authority; a false one according to God’s message.

In addition to the bells ringing at the National Cathedral, they were rung at the Methodist, Presbyterian, Unitarian, and other Christian churches in Washington D.C. They showed their pride in the ruling for depravity. But that isn’t new. Such groups have been proclaiming acceptance of homosexuality for several years by welcoming homosexual leaders into their organizations. God’s message says that homosexuals must change to be included in God’s family, but that is old fashioned according to modern teaching. Yes, modern teaching taking the place of the Word of God.

Before the court ruling, the Boy Scouts voted to accept homosexual boys into their membership. Given that the Scouts have traditionally honored God and held to high morals, how can they maintain those ideals now? The churches that have dropped sponsorship of troops are receiving condemnation for not being tolerant. They are being told they are wrong in their stand on the issue no matter what they have held as right and moral since thee founding of the Scouts. As with homo-marriage ruling, the Scouts must give way to man’s modern thinking and enlightenment.

Throughout all the discussion of the so called homo-marriage and the Boy Scouts, one word was conspicuously absent. The word is the root of all of man’s problems; a simple three letter word known to all but one many deny. The word is sin.

Those who have not obeyed the gospel must be convicted of sin before they can be saved by following Christ’s teachings on how to be saved. They must be as Jesus said in Luke 18:13, of the publican: And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.  Each person must be of the mind of the publican and until that happens to each, sin will reign in one’s life. And those who presume to preach the gospel must recognize sin as the reason Jesus came into the world. The grand pronouncements of the Rev. Gary Hall are the product of puffed up mind that does not know Jesus and the reason for his death.

In Proverbs 14:33-34 we find the following: Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known. 34  Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Those words were written to God’s people who had a problem of remaining faithful to his ways. The same teaching and principle apply to the modern day.

Paul wrote in Romans 1:21-22 of those who could know God but didn’t honor him. 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, …  Those  timeless words describe the Rev Garry Hall, the Supreme Court members who voted to favor of “homo-marriage” and those in the Boy Scouts who invited into their membership people who practice sin as a way of life. Not only do they practice it, but they glorify it.

Those bells ringing in tribute to the ruling show nothing but the depravity of those who consider themselves enlightened. They have presumed  that God does not mean what he said, and in the process they have denied the sacrifice for sin so freely given by Jesus on the cross of Calvary. In essence, the ruling, the vote by the Scouts and the bells can rightfully be called an abomination before God.
