Both political houses in the United States, the Republicans and Democrat
establishments alike, are in a deplorable shape. If any word is
applicable to the leadership in the parties, it is despots. It is
apparent that those holding the reigns of the nation don’t know the
meaning of the word. Perhaps based on their actions, tin-horn dictators
would be a better description.
|
|
Madame Queen of the Democrat House is Nancy Pelosi, known as the Speaker
of the House. She speaks and speaks and speaks, operating under the
illusion that her much speaking is an indication she has something to
say that is worthwhile. The woman sets a new standard for low
intelligence and intransigence. From proclaiming that Bush is the worst
President ever (How about turn down your thermostat and put on a sweater
Carter?) to not allowing drilling for oil, she rules with an iron fist
that even rankles the more sensible liberal Democrats, if there are any
such animals.
|
|
Queen Pelosi demands that oil be released from the reserve to lower the
price of gasoline, but in almost the same breath she says drilling and
producing more oil won’t lower the price. Now figure it out. Releasing a
small amount of oil from the reserve will lower the price while drilling
and producing more crude will only lower the price two cents in ten
years. Now do you see why it was written that she sets a new standard
for low intelligence? She refuses to make any concession to lessen the
economic strain on her subjects.
|
|
The Lord of the Senate, Harry Reid puffs up like a mad toad (puff adder
anyone?) when it is suggested to him that the strangle hold on oil
producers be made null and void. No Siree-Bob, he won’t do that because
someone might make “obscene” profits through meeting the demand of the
public for affordable energy. Instead, he wants to rein in speculators
who are the villains in the price hikes; that is in the demagogic mind
of Reid, they are the villains. Never, never, never look in the mirror
to see the source of the problem. It might spoil the image the man has
of himself.
|
|
A peculiarity that covers both Pelosi and Reid is the fact that both of
them loathe business but have made fortunes in business dealings, some
of which are highly suspect with legal and ethical problems. Then they
turn around and question the ethics of legitimate business people, such
as oil company executives for making those oh so terribly high “obscene”
profits. Of course, profits for Pelosi and Reid are fine since they are
people of such noble character, and they know so much better how to
spend their own profits and ours. We, the subjects, really don’t know
what to do with our profits; that is why we need the Queen and Lord to
give us direction. What does the sign say? Oh, I see it now, “This way
to the poor house.”

From a nation with elected servants of the people elected by the people,
to one of petty elected dictators who lord it over the people has taken
two-hundred years. But who is to blame for the petty minds parading
around in the halls of Congress? Sadly, it is the voters who elect the
despotic lords to the positions of leadership. It is utterly appalling
to listen to the excuses that the supporters of the “lords” make to
justify their unconstitutional actions. Those making the excuses
undoubtedly think that they will gain something worthwhile from the
draconian actions of the Queen of the House and the Lord of the Senate.
The only gain, if it can be called a gain, is the increase in power of
government over the people, such power being engineered by Pelosi and
Reid.
|
|
Nothing is being done by the Republicans to limit the Democrat exercise
in despotism either. All the Republicans do is posture and then cave at
the slightest opposition from the other side. But sadly, they too like
to tell everyone how they should live. Maybe we should call them Liberal
Democrat Light.
|
|
Those who are elected, the bureaucrats and the people need to understand
that being in a position of power doesn’t make them lords over the
people; they are servants. We employ them, and as such, we are the
lords, and they are the servants. The sooner we return to a government
which follows the Constitution, the better off we will be. In Sorting
It Out, then Queen Pelosi and Lord Reid will be history.
