Letters to the Voice column of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette is journey into the minds of the various writers, this writer included. Some of the letters have well thought out subjects with good organization, while others are rambling discourses that can leave the reader wondering what was said to forceful assertions that offer no proof for the belief beyond generalized statements.

Those writers who believe in God are the targets of those who hold disdain, if not contempt for the believers, seen in the vitriol of the disparaging remarks. That type behavior generally comes to the fore when evolution is refuted. When that happens, foolish fuzzy thinking, if the word thinking can be used for what the writers have to say. The fact is that they aren’t thinking past a parroting of ideas with no substance.

Some time ago when the subject of evolution appeared in a letter several writers attempted to refute the belief that God created all natural parts of our existence. One writer said that there were all kinds of proof for evolution; that it exists everywhere. The natural question is where does it exist and what is the proof? They disparage those who inquire, but they cannot cite one instance of one form of life evolving to another form. Another writer contended that we are in a constant state of evolving and we are not yet what we will be at a later time. Again, the natural question is to what are we evolving and what will our future existence look like? Of course, that cannot be answered since we haven’t arrived yet. One writer said that we are evolving to a higher plane of civility since that is the goal of evolution. It appears that the writer of that letter is living on another planet where the news of chaos and mayhem is not heard or seen.

Those who believe in evolution cannot explain the wondrous design of the eye in higher forms of life with the human eye being the grandest of all. They cannot explain the exquisite designs found in nature. The scriptures declare in Psalms 19:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork. The argument of the evolutionists would be that the verse isn’t proof of God’s existence. If they do so argue, they are correct as far as their shallow thinking goes; the verse tells us where to look. When they refuse to look they are cheating themselves out of the glorious experience of living in a perfectly designed creation that was made for the benefit of all. Additionally, when they refuse to believe, they will not see God’s work due to their spiritual blindness. The scriptures also tell us of that kind of thinking as well in Psalms 14:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

John wrote in 8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.  Your attention is called to verse 32. The evolutionists are chained to a doctrine that cannot be proven and consequently spend vast amounts of their time attempting to defend the indefensible. The irony of their God denying thinking is obvious: since they believe in evolution instead of God, what is the reason they are attempting to prove that God does not exist? Who are they trying to convince? It appears the evolutionists are trying to convince themselves that God is a figment of imagination, when in fact evolution is the figment of their God denying imagination. The scriptures speak to their unbelief and they cannot see it. Such is the way of shallow thinking.
